History In 1945, Genyoshi Kadokawa established Kadokawa Shoten Publishing Co., focusing on the publishing business. On the morning of June 8, 2024, Kadokawa Corporation, Kadokawa's website and the Japanese video-sharing platform Niconico suffered a ransomware cyberattack by a Russian-linked hacker group called Royal (cyber gang), BlackSuit, who claimed responsibility for the attack. Haruki Kadokawa
is a Japanese entrepreneur and filmmaker. He is the son of Genyoshi Kadokawa, the founder of the publishing company Kadokawa Shoten. He took over as president of the company in 1975 after his father's death. He entered the film industry as a producer and introduced a technique called media mix, which involved mass promotion and talent scouting for new artists in publishing, film, and television. In 1993, he was arrested for drug smuggling. He resigned as president of Kadokawa Shoten, founding Kadokawa Haruki Corporation instead. is a Japanese politician and former mayor of Kyoto City, the capital city of Kyoto Prefecture. Overview Kadokawa was born in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. In 1969, he graduated from Kyoto Municipal Horikawa High School. Shortly afterwards, he started working for the Kyoto City Board of Education, while at the same time attending Ritsumeikan University Faculty of Law No. 2 to obtain a degree.
