Kacho Sikander Khan
Kacho Sikander Khan Sikander (1917-2007) was an eminent Indian writer from Kargil District of Ladakh. His work ''Qadeem Ladakh - Tarikh-o-Tamaddun'' is a major study of the history of Ladakh from the time people settled in the region up to the post-Indian independence movement, independent era. Early life Sikander Khan belonged to the ''Gasho'' family of Chiktan. Born in 1917 he was the eldest son of Kacho Isfindyar Khan. His mother belonged to the family of the Raja Haider Khan of Tambis. There were no schools in his village so at the age of nine he was admitted to a school in the Kargil town so that he could get modern education. His father made him stay with a simple household, the ''Abaa pa'' of the Aba Grong, a small locality in the vicinity of Kargil town. When he was in the 9th standard, his father died, and he and his mother had to shoulder the responsibility of the family. Ladakhi People
Ladakhis, Ladakhi people, or Ladakspa are an ethnic group and first-language speakers of the Ladakhi language living in Ladakh in India and Tibet in China. A small number of Ladakhis are also found in Baltistan, Pakistan. History Ladakh has a long history with evidence of human settlement from as back as 9000 B.C.E. Tashi Rabgias
Tashi Rabgias (1927 - 30 October 2020) was an Indian scholar and historian who belonged to the Union Territory of Ladakh. He was a scholar of Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. He commanded great expertise over the Ladakhi language, Bhoti language. He has many books to his credit. He has a collection of more than 200 folk songs for which he was awarded a Robe of Honour by the Art Culture and Language Department, Govt of Jammu and Kashmir. Early life He was born in the Tukchu family of Sakti village in Leh. He had an inclination towards Buddhist philosophy and its ways of life from a very early age. Epic Of King Gesar
The Epic of King Gesar (), also spelled Kesar () or Geser (especially in Mongolian contexts), is an epic from Tibet and Central Asia. It originally developed between 200 or 300 BCE and about 600 CE. Folk balladeers continued to pass on the story orally; this enriched the plot and embellished the language. The story reached its "final" form and height of popularity in the early 12th century. The epic relates the heroic deeds of the culture hero Gesar, the fearless lord of the legendary kingdom of Ling (). It is recorded variously in poetry and prose, through oral poetry performance, and is sung widely throughout Central Asia and South Asia. Its classic version is found in central Tibet. Some 100 bards of this epic (, "tale") are still active today in the Gesar belt of China.
