Kutchi People
The Kutchi people ( Kutchi and Gujarati: કચ્છી ; ; कच्छी , ) traditionally hail from the Kutch district of the western Indian state of Gujarat and the Sindh region of Pakistan. History The Kutchi Memons are a Kutchi people who converted from Hinduism to Islam in the 15th century A.D., due to the influence of Sunni Pirs, such as Saiyid Abdullah. Kutchis, being a part of the Indian diaspora, have maintained their traditions abroad; in 1928, Kutchi Hindus in Nairobi held a Swaminarayan procession in which 1200 people attended. The Kutchis have been living in southern part of Sindh for decades and call themselves Sindhis. Many Kutchi people are also part of the Khoja community, an international diaspora of individuals from Gujarat and its surrounding areas. From the 14th century onwards, they were influenced by the Isma'ili Nizari Pirs such as Pir Sadrudin and converted from Hinduism to Isma'ilism. In the 19th and 20th century, many of them immigrated to Eas ...

Kachee
Tibetan Muslims, also known as the Khache (, ), are Tibetans who adhere to Islam. Many are descendants of Kashmiris, Ladakhis, and Nepalis who arrived in Tibet in the 14th to 17th centuries. There are approximately 5,000 Tibetan Muslims living in China, over 1,500 in India, and 300 to 400 in Nepal. The government of the People's Republic of China does not recognize the Tibetan Muslims as a distinct ethnic group; they are grouped with Tibetan adherents of Buddhism and Bön. In contrast, the Chinese-speaking Hui Muslims are distinguished from the Han Chinese majority. Etymology In Tibet, Tibetan Muslims are known as , which literally translates as in Tibetan, because many are descendants of pre-modern emigrants from Kashmir. In Nepal, they are split into two groups: the ''Khache'', who have Kashmiri ancestry and therefore hold Indian passports; and the ''Khazar'', who have Nepali ancestry and therefore hold Nepali passports. History Early history The first contacts be ...

Kachhi (caste)
The Kachhi are a Hindu caste of vegetable cultivators found in the regions of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in India. Myths of origin The Kachhi caste form a part of a wider community that claims a common descent. This community, known as the Kushwaha, nowadays generally claim descent from Kusha, a son of the mythological Rama, who is considered to be an avatar of Vishnu. This enables their claim to be of the Suryavansh - or Solar - dynasty but it is a myth of origin developed in the twentieth century. Prior to that time, the various branches that form the Kushwaha community - the Mauraos, Kachhis and Koeris - favoured a connection with Shiva and Shakta. Ganga Prasad Gupta claimed in the 1920s that Kushwaha families worshiped Hanuman - described by Pinch as "the embodiment of true devotion to Ram and Sita" - during Kartika, a month in the Hindu lunar calendar. Present circumstances In Uttar Pradesh, the vegetable-cultivators ...

Kutchi Language
Kutchi (; કચ્છી, , ڪڇّي, ) or Kachhi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in the Kutch region of Gujarat, and some parts of Rajasthan, India and Sindh, Pakistan. The Jadeja rulers of Cutch and Rajputs of Kutch, speak Kutchi language. Apart from Rajputs, Kutchi Jains, Kutchi Lohana, Kutchi Rabari, Sidis of Kutch even today use Kutchi in their home as language of communication. Influences from other languages Some scholars have considered Kutchi to be a dialect of Sindhi, but the two languages are quite distinct from one another. Over time, it has borrowed vocabulary from Gujarati. The variety of Kutchi spoken in Sindh and in the Banni region of Kutch is more similar to the Lari dialect of Sindhi, whereas the Kutchi spoken in the eastern parts of Kutch has more Gujarati influence, and is slowly becoming more similar to Gujarati. Most Kutchis living in India are bilingual or trilingual, due to exposure to closely related neighbouring languages such as Gujara ...
