Kaashidhoo () is one of the inhabited islands of Kaafu Atoll. Kaashidhoo is a local island in the north of North Male Atoll, Maldives. In fact, this is mini-atoll with its own lagoon. Kuruhinna Tharaagandu
Kuruhinna Tharaagandu is an archaeological site 2–4 hours from Malé, in the island of Kaashidhoo, Maldives. The site is a Buddhist Monastery and is believed to have been used by pre-Islamic Maldivians dating back to the 7th to 8th century AD. The excavation work was done in various periods from February 1996 through 1998. During this period, an area of 1,880m2 was excavated, revealing 64 coral stone structures. For the vast majority, only the lower most parts have been preserved. Kaafu Atoll is the code name given to an administrative division in the Republic of Maldives which consists of the geographical atolls of Kaashidhoo Island, Gaafaru, North Malé Atoll and South Malé Atoll. Zhao Jiong (20 November 939 – 8 May 997), known as Zhao Guangyi from 960 to 977 and Zhao Kuangyi before 960, also known by his temple name as the Emperor Taizong of Song, was the second emperor of the Song dynasty of China. Malé is the capital and most populous city of the Maldives. With a population of 211,908 in 2022 within its administrative area and coterminous geographical area of , Malé is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. The city is geographically located in the southern edge of North Malé Atoll ( Kaafu Atoll). Kardiva Channel
The Kardiva Channel ( Dv: Kaashidhu Kandu) is a broad channel running from southwest to northeast and cutting across the Maldive atoll chain. This channel divides the Northern from the Central atolls of the Maldives. This channel was important for ancient mariners plying along the spice route trying to bypass the long and dangerous shallow reefs of the Maldives without harm. In the British Admiralty charts it is called Kardiva Channel. It appeared on the old French maps as Courant de Caridou. Locally, the northern part is known as Kaashidhoo Bodu Kandu, while the southern part is called Kaashidhoo Kuda Kandu. Kardiva is the ancient Sanskritised name of Kaashidhu Island.
