K Line (Los Angeles Metro)
The K Line is a light rail line in Los Angeles County, California. It is one of six lines in the Los Angeles Metro Rail system operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), and is the newest named line in the system, having opened on October 7, 2022. The line runs roughly north-south between Jefferson Park and the city of Redondo Beach, passing through the neighborhoods of Westchester, South Los Angeles, and the city of Inglewood. It also provides service to the Los Angeles International Airport through the LAX/Metro Transit Center. On November 3, 2024, the C and K lines underwent service changes to accommodate pre-revenue testing at the then-upcoming LAX/Metro Transit Center, which opened on June 6, 2025. LAX Automated People Mover
The LAX Automated People Mover is an under construction automated people mover (APM) system that will eventually serve the area around Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The system will be owned by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and operated by LAX Integrated Express Solutions (LINXS). The line will run for and have six stations that connect the LAX Consolidated Rent-A-Car Facility (ConRAC), the Los Angeles Metro Rail system, and the LAX West Intermodal Transportation Facility (West ITF) with the airport's central terminal area (CTA). The line was initially planned to open in 2023, but , it is scheduled to open in early 2026. An arbitrator found that LAWA was responsible for nearly two years of delays by failing to take steps to integrate the APM with its communications network and the delayed construction of the Metro Rail's LAX/Metro Transit Center. Century Boulevard
Century Boulevard is a major east–west thoroughfare in the southern portion of Los Angeles, California. Century Boulevard acts as a continuation of Tweedy Boulevard at Alameda Street in South Gate in its east end (Tweedy Boulevard in its east end starts slightly east of Atlantic Avenue), and ends in the west at the passenger terminals at Los Angeles International Airport. Due to its correspondence with the airport, the road has been dubbed "The Gateway to Los Angeles". California State Route 42
State Route 42 (SR 42) is a decommissioned state highway in the southern region part of the U.S. state of California, running along Manchester Avenue, Manchester Boulevard and Firestone Boulevard in Los Angeles and the cities south of it. In its final official routing that lasted from 1968 to 2000, SR 42 ran from State Route 1 west of Inglewood (near Los Angeles International Airport) east to what was then a direct interchange with Interstate 5 in Norwalk. Though signed as SR 42, it was officially Route 105 until it was replaced by the parallel Interstate 105 on October 14, 1993. The entire route was deleted from the California Freeway and Expressway System in 2000, with the remaining portion of SR 42 being relinquished to local jurisdictions in that year. Aviation Boulevard is a major north–south thoroughfare in western and the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, California. Route Description Aviation Boulevard runs for 7.1 miles (11.4 km), starting near Westchester, and through the beach cities of El Segundo, Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, where its southern terminus is at Pacific Coast Highway. Harbor Subdivision
The Harbor Subdivision is a single-track main line of the BNSF Railway which stretches between rail yards near downtown Los Angeles and the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach across southwestern Los Angeles County. It was the primary link between two of the world's busiest harbors and the national rail network. A tunnel boring machine (TBM), also known as a "mole" or a "worm", is a machine used to excavate tunnels. TBMs are an alternative to drilling and blasting methods and "hand mining", allowing more rapid excavation through hard rock, wet or dry soil, or sand (although each requires specialized TBM technologies). K Line Northern Extension
The K Line Northern Extension, formerly known as the Crenshaw Northern Extension, is a planned Los Angeles Metro Rail light rail extension connecting Expo/Crenshaw station to Hollywood/Highland station in Hollywood.
