KWUL-FM
KWUL-FM (101.7 MHz) is a radio station licensed to Elsberry, Missouri, serving a wide area of the Metro West suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri. The station plays a format that is a mixture of Rock and Americana music dubbed "Rock 'N Americana," and has since Spring 2018. Previous to that the station had played for nearly a year a variety of Adult Alternative rock music since returning to the air after being off the air for several years after the station was repossessed from its former owner Randy Wachter into the court ordered receivership of Dennis Wallace, a Maryland based TV and Radio engineer. The station was originally KLPW-FM licensed to Union, Missouri. It went on the air in 1966 and for its first couple of years was a classical music station broadcasting with 1,000 watts of power. KWUL (920 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to St. Louis, Missouri, and serving the Greater St. Louis media market. The station is owned by Louis Eckelkamp, through licensee East Central Broadcasting, LLC, and broadcasts an Americana radio format. KWUL's studios and offices are located on Hampton Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri, while its transmitter is located near the Interstate 255/ Illinois Route 255/ Interstate 270 interchange, off Chain of Rocks Road in Edwardsville, Illinois. History On December 1, 1961, KWUL first signed on the air from Granite City, Illinois as WGNU. KRTE-FM (107.3 MHz) is a conservative talk radio station serving the city of Rolla, Missouri. Originally licensed to serve Cuba, Missouri, in February 2007, the license holder applied to change the city of license to Steelville, Missouri, which was the location of KQQX, a station owned by Twenty-One Sound Communications. The FCC revoked the station's STA authority (allowing it to remain silent) on April 10, 2007. The station was granted its operating license on September 12, 2007 based on the original city of license of Cuba. On August 2, 2012, the FCC granted KLPW-FM special temporary authority to operate from a new location at a reduced height and power. Union is a city in and the county seat of Franklin County, Missouri, United States. It is located on the Bourbeuse River, southwest of St. Louis. The population was 10,204 at the 2010 census, with the city showing the highest growth rate (32%) in Franklin County over the previous decade. KXEN (1010 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to St. Louis, Missouri, United States. The station is owned by BDJ Radio Enterprises, LLC. KXEN's studios and offices are on Hampton Avenue in St. Louis. Its transmitter is located near the Interstate 255/Illinois Route 255/ Interstate 270 intersection in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. It used to carry a religious radio format, with most of the hours sold to national and local Christian radio hosts. KXEN broadcasts in the daytime at 160 watts. Because AM 1010 is a Canadian clear-channel frequency reserved for Class A stations CFRB Toronto and CBR Calgary, Alberta, KXEN must reduce power at night to 14 watts to avoid interference.
