KWCH-DT (channel 12) is a television station licensed to Hutchinson, Kansas, United States, serving the Wichita area as an affiliate of CBS. It is owned by Gray Media alongside CW affiliate KSCW-DT (channel 33) and maintains studios on 37th Street North in northeast Wichita and a transmitter facility located east of Hutchinson in rural northeastern Reno County. KWCH-DT serves as the flagship of the Kansas Broadcasting System (KBS), a network of four full-power stations that relay CBS network and other programming provided by KWCH across central and western Kansas, as well as bordering counties in Colorado, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. Dodge City is a city in and the county seat of Ford County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 27,788. It was named after nearby Fort Dodge, which was named in honor of Grenville Dodge. The city is known in American culture for its history as a wild frontier town of the Old West. KEDD (TV)
KEDD (channel 16) was a television station in Wichita, Kansas, United States, that operated from August 15, 1953, to April 30, 1956. It was the first television station based in Wichita. The station's studios were located at 2815 East 37th Street North. The start-up of two VHF stations in Wichita put KEDD at a disadvantage economically, spurring the station to file for bankruptcy in 1955. The second of these stations, KSNW, KARD-TV, signed on as an independent, and NBC decided in early 1956 to move its programs there, signaling channel 16's demise. Lassen Hotel (Wichita, Kansas)
Market Centre in Wichita, Kansas was built in 1918 as the Lassen Hotel. It was designed by architects Richards, McCarty & Bulford. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The 11-story building originally had an L-shaped plan for floors 3 to 11. It was expanded in 1922 by adding a wing that gave the structure a U-shaped plan. with The hotel was acquired by the Schimmel Hotel group in 1942, which operated it until it was sold in 1969. KCTY (channel 25) was a television station in Kansas City, Missouri, United States, which broadcast from June 6, 1953, to February 28, 1954. It was the second television station to begin broadcasting in the Kansas City area after WDAF-TV.
