KSSK (AM)
KSSK (590 kHz) is an adult contemporary formatted AM radio station, licensed to Honolulu, Hawaii and owned by Studios are located in the Kalihi neighborhood of Honolulu, and the transmitter site is located a mile from the studios. KSSK serves as Hawaii's primary AM station entry point for the Emergency Alert System, with KRTR-FM providing PEP capabilities on FM. KSSK's programming is simulcast with KSSK-FM in Waipahu, Hawaii. As is the case with many other iHeartMedia adult contemporary stations, KSSK-AM-FM play all Christmas music beginning each year in mid-November, and return to their regular format on December 26. KRTR-FM (96.3 FM, "Krater 96") is an adult contemporary music formatted radio station serving Honolulu, Hawaii. The SummitMedia outlet broadcasts with an ERP of 74 kW and is licensed to Kailua, Hawaii. The station's studios are located in Downtown Honolulu and its transmitter is located east of Diamond Head, Hawaii. History KRTR signed on as KSHO on October 31, 1978, as a soft jazz outlet with the call letters KSHO. Its sister station at the time was Jazz powerhouse KKGO FM Los Angeles. Every year the stations would broadcast live from the Monterey jazz festival.
