KSOP (AM)
KSOP (1370 kHz) is an AM radio station broadcasting a Classic Country format. Licensed to South Salt Lake, Utah, United States, the station serves the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The station is currently owned by Ksop, Inc. The station was founded in 1955 by Henry Hilton, a Utah native who had worked in other local radio stations before founding this independent business. History Both KSOP AM and FM have broadcast country music since their first air dates. KSOP AM came on air in 1955 and was initially operated during the day only. Today the Hilton family continues operating KSOP AM and FM. Its studios are located near Redwood Road in Salt Lake City, while its transmitter site is west of downtown. From December 1964 through the spring of 2002, KSOP-AM was a simulcast of KSOP-FM. As of June 26, 2002, KSOP-AM has flipped to the current Classic Country format. South Salt Lake, Utah
South Salt Lake is a city in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States and is part of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 23,617 at the 2010 census. History Jesse Fox Jr. developed the area South Salt Lake referred to as Central Park around 1890. Mr. Fox chose the name after visiting New York and seeing Central Park there. He was impressed by the park and its design within an urban environment. Despite South Salt Lake being rural at the time, he decided to name the area Central Park. In 1925 the LDS Central Park Ward was created and named after the development. In 1936, an attempted annexation by Salt Lake City failed due to concerns over funding and implementation of a sewer system. On August 14, 1936 a resolution creating the Town of Central Park was approved by the Board of County Commissioners - however, this did not last long, as voters then decided to disincorporate the town in 1937. State Route 68 (SR-68) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Utah. It is a major thoroughfare throughout the Wasatch Front as it runs north–south for , linking US-6 near Elberta to US-89 in Woods Cross. The route intersects several major freeways and highways in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area including I-215, I-80, and I-15. The route is more commonly referred to as Redwood Road, after the street it is routed along throughout Salt Lake County. The highway is also routed for a short distance along 500 South and 200 West in Bountiful and Camp Williams Road in Utah County. The route is a surface street for its entire length. SR-68 became a state highway in 1931, at which time the route ran from then–US-40 (North Temple Street) in Salt Lake City to present-day US-89 in Lehi. The Salt Lake City metropolitan area is the metropolitan area centered on the city of Salt Lake City, Utah. AM Radio
AM broadcasting is radio broadcasting using amplitude modulation (AM) transmissions. It was the first method developed for making audio radio transmissions, and is still used worldwide, primarily for medium wave (also known as "AM band") transmissions, but also on the longwave and shortwave radio bands.
