KSLV-III is a medium orbit geostationary launch vehicle currently under development in South Korea, with the goal of its first launch in 2030. History In February 2018, the Ministry of Science and ICT held a National Space Committee meeting and announced the 3rd Basic Plan for the Promotion of Space Development. In the launch vehicle sector, in order to establish a self-powered launch service foundation, a plan was established to foster a launch service ecosystem based on Nuri in the first stage from 2021 to 2025, and to secure price competitiveness through a domestic satellite launch mass production system in the second stage from 2026 to 2030. The Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA; ) is a Korean government-funded space and aeronautics agency. The South Korean space program began in earnest in the 1980s when research on space development began. Korea Aerospace Research Institute was established in October 1989, and the Korea AeroSpace Administration was established in May 2024. Nuri (rocket)
Nuri (; , meaning 'world' in native Korean language, Korean), also known as KSLV-II (Korean Space Launch Vehicle-II), is a Multistage rocket, three-stage launch vehicle, the second one developed by South Korea and the successor to Naro-1 (KSLV-1). The Korea Lunar Lander and Rover is a lunar lander currently under development by South Korea, scheduled to be launched in 2032. Naro-1 (), previously designated the Korea Space Launch Vehicle or KSLV (also KSLV-1), was South Korea's first carrier rocket, and the first South Korean launch vehicle to achieve low Earth orbit, Earth orbit. Reusable Launch Vehicle
A reusable launch vehicle has parts that can be recovered and reflown, while carrying payloads from the surface to outer space. Rocket stages are the most common launch vehicle parts aimed for reuse. Smaller parts such as fairings, boosters or rocket engines can also be reused, though reusable spacecraft may be launched on top of an expendable launch vehicle.
