KRCG
KRCG (channel 13) is a television station licensed to Jefferson City, Missouri, United States, serving as the CBS affiliate for the Columbia–Jefferson City market. Owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, the station maintains studios and transmitter facilities on US 54 in the nearby town of New Bloomfield. History The station was founded on February 13, 1955, and was owned by the ''Jefferson City News Tribune''. The paper's publisher, Betty Goshorn Weldon, named the station in honor of her late father, Robert C. Goshorn, who had long wanted to bring a television station to the area. Ms. Weldon inherited the paper on his death in 1953 and took over his dream. She thus became one of the first women to own and operate a television station. KRCG has always been a CBS affiliate, although it had shared some ABC programming with KOMU-TV (channel 8) until KCBJ-TV (channel 17, now KMIZ) signed on in 1971. KMOS-TV
KMOS-TV (channel 6) is a PBS member television station licensed to Sedalia, Missouri, United States. The station is owned by the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. KMOS-TV's studios are located in the Patton Broadcast Center on the UCM campus, and its transmitter is located in Syracuse, Missouri. Although Sedalia and Warrensburg are part of the Kansas City television market (in fact, Warrensburg is an outer-ring suburb of Kansas City), KMOS is the PBS member station of record for the Columbia–Jefferson City market. One consequence is that KMOS cannot be seen on DirecTV or Dish Network in its own city of license; KCPT is the sole PBS station uplinked on the Kansas City feed. However, it is carried on Charter Spectrum cable systems in Sedalia and Warrensburg as one of two Mid-Missouri stations provided (alongside ABC affiliate KMIZ, channel 17). KOMU-TV (channel 8) is a television station licensed to Columbia, Missouri, United States, serving the Columbia–Jefferson City market as an affiliate of NBC and The CW Plus. The station's studios and transmitter are located on US 63 southeast of downtown Columbia. Owned by the University of Missouri and operated by the Missouri School of Journalism, KOMU-TV is one of only two commercial television stations in the United States to be operated by a public university, alongside the University of Alabama's WVUA-CD; all other such stations are non-profit PBS member stations. KMIZ (channel 17) is a television station licensed to Columbia, Missouri, United States, serving the Columbia–Jefferson City market as an affiliate of ABC and MyNetworkTV. It is owned by the News-Press & Gazette Company alongside Fox affiliate KQFX-LD (channel 22, also licensed to Columbia); the stations together are branded as the "Networks of Mid-Missouri". The two stations share studios on the East Business Loop 70 in Columbia; KMIZ's transmitter is located west of Jamestown near the Moniteau– Cooper county line. The NTA Film Network was an early American television network founded by Ely Landau in 1956 that operated on a part-time basis, broadcasting films and several first-run television programs from major Hollywood studios. Despite attracting more than 100 affiliate stations and securing the financial support of Twentieth Century-Fox (which purchased a 50% share of NTA in November 1956), the network proved unprofitable and was discontinued by 1961.
