KQSO-LP
KQSO-LP, formerly licensed to operate on (96.3 FM), was a low-power radio station licensed to Newberg, Oregon, United States. However, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) had issued a STA for the station to operate at 102.9 MHz due to the move-in of a commercial station ( KWLZ-FM) licensed to West Linn, Oregon. The station signed on the air February 7, 2009, and was owned by the Western Oregon Radio Club, Inc. (WORC), an amateur radio organization. On January 1, 2012, KQSO-LP undertook an affiliation with the WORC Oldies Network, which syndicates broadcast material to other low-power radio stations interested in amateur radio. Programming included amateur (ham) radio news, educational material, comedy, oldies, and adult standard music. KISN (Portland)
KISN was an AM radio station licensed to Vancouver, Washington and broadcasting to Portland, Oregon. broadcasting on 910 kHz and licensed for 5,000 watts. The station began broadcasting in 1939 as KVAN, but after it changed formats to Top 40 and became KISN in 1959, KISN became not only the number one rated rock station in the market (the station followed a Top 50 playlist), but at times the most popular radio station in Portland. In 1976, the FCC revoked KISN's license and others owned by the Star Stations group due to a series of indiscretions involving connections to candidates for the United States Senate in Indiana and Oregon. KISN-LP is a low-power FM radio station broadcasting at 95.1 FM in Portland, Oregon, United States. It is owned and operated by Western Oregon Radio Club, Inc., and broadcasts an oldies format. The station takes its call letters and inspiration from the former KISN in Vancouver, Washington, a then-Top 40 outlet which broadcast from 1959 to the late 1970s. History In 2010, Dave "Records" Stone began an internet stream that served as a revival of KISN, at which he had worked. This stream was shut down in 2014. After its cloure, Scott Young—who had been a technician involved in its creation—contacted Ken Seymour of the Western Oregon Radio Club (WORC) to explore opportunities for joining forces to resurrect KISN radio. Newberg, Oregon
Newberg is a city in Yamhill County, Oregon, United States. Located in the Portland metropolitan area, the city is home to George Fox University. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 25,138 making it the second most populous city in the county. History Ewing Young, after leading pioneering fur brigades in California, came to Portland in 1834 and settled on the west bank of the Willamette River near the mouth of Chehalem Creek, opposite of Champoeg. Young's home is believed to be the first house built by European-Americans on that side of the river. Later, Joseph Rogers settled near the Willamette River at what is now Newberg in 1848.
