KQRX (95.1 FM, "Rock 95.1") is a commercial radio station located in Midland, Texas, broadcasting to the Midland-Odessa market. KQRX airs an active rock music format. Its studios are located at the West Texas Radio Group Building on Midkiff Road in Midland, south of Midland Park Mall, and its transmitter is located in Gardendale, Texas. History KQRX signed on in 1995 airing a modern rock music format branded as "The X". They carried the ESPN Radio show EXPN as one of their signature shows. The station's branding eventually evolved, becoming "95X - The New Music Alternative". On March 8, 2007, KQRX was bought by the West Texas Radio Group. West Texas Roughnecks
The West Texas Roughnecks were a professional indoor football team based in Odessa, Texas that plays in the Lone Star Football League. The team's nickname was a tribute to the oil industry, which has been the source of Odessa's wealth over the past century. The team began operations in 2004 as the Odessa Roughnecks, a charter member of the Intense Football League (IFL). In 2005, the IFL merged with the NIFL. For the 2006 season, the IFL was resurrected, and the Odessa Roughnecks returned to their original league. In 2008 the Intense Football League merged again, this time with the UIF to create the Indoor Football League. The team played its home games at the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa. The Odessa Jackalopes are a Tier II junior ice hockey team playing in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). The team is based in Odessa, Texas and plays their home games at Ector County Coliseum. History The franchise first played as the Owatonna Express in Owatonna, Minnesota, in 2008 replacing the recently relocated Southern Minnesota Express. The Express played their home games at the Four Seasons Centre at the Steele County Fairgrounds. Midland College (MC) is a public community college in Midland, Texas. It was established as an independent junior college in 1972 and held its first classes on campus in 1975.
