KQQK (107.9 FM) is a commercial radio station broadcasting a Regional Mexican radio format. It is licensed to Beaumont, Texas, and is owned by Estrella Media. It calls itself "El Norte 107.9." The studios and offices are on Bering Drive in Houston. KQQK has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 90,000 watts broadcasting from a tower at 565 meters (1,853 feet) in height above average terrain (HAAT). Height above average terrain (HAAT), or (less popularly) effective height above average terrain (EHAAT), is the vertical position of an antenna site above the surrounding landscape. HAAT is used extensively in FM radio and television, as it is more important than effective radiated power (ERP) in determining the range of broadcasts ( VHF and UHF in particular, as they are line of sight transmissions).
