KQDX (106.3 MHz) is a radio station licensed to Hibbing, Minnesota. The station serves the Hibbing area as a simulcast of KQDS-FM, a classic rock station in Duluth. KQDX is owned by Midwest Communications. KQDX is part of a Midwest cluster of stations on the Iron Range that also includes WMFG, WNMT, WTBX and WUSZ. All stations share the same studio location at 807 W. 37th Street, Hibbing. History The station went on the air as WMFG-FM, the FM sister station to WMFG (1240 AM), in 1971. It dropped the "-FM" suffix when the AM station became WGGR in 1983, but returned to the WMFG-FM call sign on August 5, 1987. WMFG-FM previously carried a classic hits format as "106.3 Classic Hits". KQDS-FM
KQDS-FM (94.9 Hertz, MHz, "95 KQDS") is a classic rock music formatted radio station located in Duluth, Minnesota. Established in 1976 as KAOH-FM, the station is owned by Midwest Communications, and follows a format similar to that of the well-known KQRS-FM in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Twin Cities. The studios are located in downtown Duluth, along with KDAL (AM), KDAL, KDAL-FM, KDKE, KTCO, WDSM, and WDUL. KQDS-FM is simulcast on KQDX (106.3) in Hibbing, Minnesota, Hibbing. WMFG (1240 AM) is a radio station broadcasting an adult standards format. Licensed to Hibbing, Minnesota, United States, the station serves the Iron Range area. WNMT (650 AM) is a talk radio station in Hibbing, Minnesota. WNMT is owned by Midwest Communications. Midwest owns five radio stations on the Iron Range; KQDX, WMFG, WNMT, WTBX, and WUSZ. Midwest Communications, Inc. is a Wausau, Wisconsin–based radio broadcasting company.
