KQDI-FM
KQDI-FM (106.1 MHz, "Q106") is a radio station broadcasting an active rock format. Licensed to Highwood, Montana, the station serves the Great Falls area. KQDI-FM is currently owned by STARadio Corporation. History The station went on the air as KARR-FM in 1964, changing to KOPR-FM on December 15 of that year. It was acquired in 1977 by Sun River Broadcasting, owner of KQDI (1450 AM), and became easy listening KOOZ. In 1984, the station changed to Top 40/CHR under the name "K-106" and with new KQDI-FM call letters. The change was short-lived, as KOOZ-FM returned the next year. KQDI (1450 AM, "NewsTalk 1450") is a radio station broadcasting a News Talk Information format. Licensed to Great Falls, Montana, United States, the station serves the Great Falls area. The station is currently owned by STARadio Corporation and features programming from Westwood One, CNN Radio and Premiere Radio Networks. History KBGF and KUDI KQDI went on the air as KBGF on September 23, 1955. It was owned by Community Broadcasters, Inc., a group of local businessmen, and was the city's fourth radio station. The call letters stood for "Keep Building Great Falls". From its inception, it operated as a contemporary Top 40 music radio station. KBGF was sold to a group of Washington state radio owners and operators in January 1957. The group included Paul Crain, Del Cody, Walter N. Nelskog, and D. Gene Williams. Highwood, Montana
Highwood is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Chouteau County, Montana, United States. The population was 176 at the 2010 census. History Highwood first had a post office in 1881, which closed and reopened a few times until 1886, since which it has remained open continuously. The community took its name from nearby Highwood Creek. The valley was popularized in the 1962 movie ''Shoot Out at Big Sag'', starring Walter Brennan. Geography Highwood is located in southwestern Chouteau County. It is in the valley of the northwest flowing Highwood Creek, a tributary of the Missouri River, and Big Sag Creek.
