Pakyong () is a city and district headquarters of Pakyong district in the Indian state of Sikkim, located in the foothills of the Himalayas. Pakyong Airport is the only airport of Sikkim. The "National Research Centre for Orchids" ( ICAR Institute) is also located here. History There is a missionary run school called St. Xavier's, which ranked as one of the top two schools in Sikkim during the 1990s. The Sikkim cricket team is a cricket team that represents the state of Sikkim in Indian domestic competitions. In July 2018, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the team as one of the nine new sides that would compete in domestic tournaments for the 2018–19 season, including the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, prior to the start of the tournament, the team did not have a ground to play first-class cricket on. Unlike some of the other new teams, Sikkim decided to enter their first List A competition with a team made up entirely of home-grown players. Ahead of the 2018–19 season, Sanjeev Sharma was appointed as the team's coach. In September 2018, they lost their opening fixture of the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, to Manipur, by 10 wickets. The 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was the eleventh edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, an annual Twenty20 tournament in India. Played from 24 March to 7 April 2015, it was contested by 37 Ranji Trophy teams, including the nine expansion teams who were introduced that season. Delhi were the defending champions. Karnataka won the 2018–19 championship, their first title. The tournament had five groups, with three groups containing seven teams and two groups with eight teams. The top two teams in each group qualified for the Super League section of the tournament, with the teams split into two further groups of five teams.
