KNEK-FM (104.7 Hertz, MHz, "Magic 104.7 KNEK") is an American radio station playing an urban adult contemporary format in the Lafayette, Louisiana metropolitan area, Lafayette metropolitan area. It broadcasts under ownership of Cumulus Media. Its studios are located on Galbert Road in Lafayette, Louisiana, and its transmitter is located south of Opelousas, Louisiana. The station used to be owned by Citadel Broadcasting. In 2007, Citadel transferred 11 of its radio stations (including KNEK-FM) to The Last Bastion Station Trust, LLC upon merger of many Citadel Media, ABC Radio stations. However, in January 2008, Last Bastion Station Trust transferred KNEK-FM back to Citadel Broadcasting, effectively placing it back into the Lafayette cluster. In exchange for KNEK-FM, the trust received KYFJ, KRDJ. Citadel merged with Cumulus Media on September 16, 2011. KNEK (1190 AM) was a radio station in Washington, Louisiana, United States, under ownership of Cumulus Media. The station simulcast sister station KNEK-FM, which broadcasts on the frequency of 104.7 FM. Its studios were located on Galbert Road in Lafayette, and its transmitter was located south of Washington, Louisiana. Because it shared the same frequency as clear-channel station XEWK-AM at Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, KNEK only operated during the daytime hours. History KNEK started in August 1980 as a daytime-only, country music–formatted station, the first new AM outlet in the area since the 1940s. In 1994, KNEK AM dropped its then-current format of gospel music and adopted an all-zydeco format, the only one of its kind. KYFJ is a radio station serving the Lafayette and Baton Rouge areas. The station broadcasts at 93.7 MHz with 100 kW and is licensed to New Iberia, Louisiana. KYFJ is currently under ownership of Bible Broadcasting Network. It was previously held by The Last Bastion Station Trust, LLC, who picked up this station after its previous owner Citadel Broadcasting swapped the station for KNEK-FM. Washington is a village in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 742 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Opelousas– Eunice Micropolitan Statistical Area.
