KMRK-FM (96.1 FM, "MY Country 96.1") is a radio station that serves the Midland–Odessa metropolitan area with country music. The station is owned by ICA Communications, who acquired this station and its sister stations for $3 million in 2010 from Gap Broadcasting. Gap had acquired the many stations, including this one, from Clear Channel Communications in 2007. One of the first announcements was that KMRK would broadcast the Midland RockHounds' entire 2010 season. KFZX (102.1 FM) is a radio station located in the Midland/Odessa, Texas market which plays a Classic hits music format. Its studios are located at the ICA Business Plaza on East Eighth Street in Odessa, just east of downtown, and its transmitter is located in far west rural Ector County, Texas. History 102.1 went on air in 1983 as "K-WES the HOT 102 FM", broadcasting a Top 40/CHR format. The city of license was Monahans, Texas. The station went on air from a thousand-foot tower near Notrees, Texas. The CP was obtained by two Houston disk jockeys Bruce Nelson Stratton and Ladd Joe Macha. The Midland RockHounds are a Minor League Baseball team based in Midland, Texas. The team, which plays in the Texas League, is the Double-A affiliate of the Athletics major league club. The RockHounds play in Momentum Bank Ballpark, which opened in 2002 and seats 4,709 fans. KCRS-FM (branded as 103.3 Kiss FM) is a radio station that serves the Midland–Odessa metropolitan area with Top 40 (CHR) music. The station signed on the air in 1976 as KWMJ-FM which was a Muzak format known as "Beautiful Music for Midland-Odessa." It remained a Muzak format till it changed its call letters to match the AM station it had shared studios with at 1001 S. Midkiff in Midland since 1976, KCRS-AM. FM 103.3 became KCRS-FM and flipped to a Top 40 format known as "K-103" in 1990. It remained a Top 40 format for a few years and then switched to an AC format known as "Max 103." Rhythmic contemporary, also known as Rhythmic Top 20, Rhythmic Top 30, Rhythmic Top 40, Rhythmic CHR or rhythmic crossover, is a primarily American music-radio format that includes a mix of EDM, upbeat rhythmic pop, hip-hop and upbeat R&B hits.
