KLRZ
KLRZ (100.3 FM broadcasting, FM) is a radio station licensed to Larose, Louisiana. Owned by Coastal Broadcasting, KLRZ targets both New Orleans and the Tri-Parishes area. History In the early-to-mid-1990s, this station's moniker was Z-100, and was playing a Top 40/Rhythmic hybrid format aimed at the New Orleans market at the time. The format was then changed to a Classic Rock format with a mid-morning talk show in June 1996. In July 2005, Citadel Broadcasting entered into a $6,000,000 agreement to buy the station. However, after Hurricane Katrina, they had backed out of the purchase. In fact, a new tower had been built to put a better signal into New Orleans, and was turned on the week before Katrina hit. KWMZ-FM (104.5 FM, "Z-104.5, WMZ FM") is a radio station licensed to serve Empire, Louisiana. The station is owned by Michael A. Costello through licensee M.A.C. Broadcasting, LLC. History This station received its original construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission on May 15, 1998. The new station, intended for Grand Isle, Louisiana, was assigned the call letters KBIL by the FCC on July 17, 1998. The station signed on the air as a rhythmic contemporary music formatted station branded as "U104.5" on June 5, 2001, using the call sign KNOU. KNOU had evolved to an urban contemporary/hip hop music format by December 2001. JP Broadcasting, LLC agreed in July 2002 to sell KNOU to On Top Communications of Louisiana, LLC for a reported $8.5 million. WWL (870 kHz) is an AM broadcasting, AM radio station in New Orleans, Louisiana, owned by Audacy, Inc. WWL and 105.3 WWL-FM simulcast a news/talk radio format with sports talk at night. The station's studios are in the 400 Poydras Tower in the New Orleans Central Business District. On January 7, 2024, it filed a chapter 11 plan for bankruptcy with almost $2 billion of debt. WWL is a clear-channel, list of broadcast station classes, Class A station. Larose is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 6,763 in 2020. It is part of the Houma– Bayou Cane– Thibodaux metropolitan statistical area. Geography Larose is located in south-central Lafourche Parish at (29.567328, -90.376074). It is bordered to the southeast by the community of Cut Off. Bayou Lafourche and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway intersect in the center of Larose. Louisiana Highways 1 and 308 run through Larose on opposite sides of Bayou Lafourche, Highway 1 to the south and Highway 308 to the north.
