KSIM (1400 AM broadcasting, AM) is a radio station city of license, licensed to serve Sikeston, Missouri, United States. The station is owned by Max Media and licensed to MRR License LLC. It airs a News radio, news/Talk radio, talk format. KSIM shares significant programming with sister station KZIM. History KSIM went on the air in 1948 and was owned by the Sikeston Community Broadcasting Company. It broadcast with 250 watts until beginning broadcast at 1,000 watts during the day in 1962. KSIM was able to get on the air because of KFVS—the future KZIM—moving to 960 kHz. Prime Time Broadcasting Corporation bought KSIM in 1977. KZIM (960 AM) is a radio station licensed to serve Cape Girardeau, Missouri, United States. The station is owned by Max Media and licensed to MRR License LLC. It airs a news and talk format. KZIM features radio programming such as the syndicated ''Coast to Coast AM'', ''The Sean Hannity Show'', and ''The Mark Levin Show''. History KZIM was the region's first radio station. Oscar Hirsch put KFVS 1340 on air in 1925, running it out of his radio shop, the Hirsch Battery and Radio Company. Although the KFVS call letters appear to stand for "Five States", they were actually randomly assigned by then-Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover. In 1928, it moved to 1210 kHz and began sharing the frequency with another station, WEBQ in Harrisburg, Illinois, which also was moved from 1340. WCIL (1020 A.M.) is a radio station broadcasting a news talk format as a simulcast of WJPF. Licensed to Carbondale, Illinois, United States, the station serves the Marion-Carbondale area. The station is owned by Max Media. History WCIL (AM) signed on the air in 1946 as a daytime-only station with personalities such as Jim Bowen, Bluegrass Roy and others in a second floor studio at about 215 W. Main St. in Carbondal At that time, to get the AM license, they were pressured by the FCC to also sign on an FM station. They kept the FM on the air for about a year and then signed it off the air since, at the time, nobody listened to FM. Later, WCIL moved the studios to a house at a location that is now the parking lot for the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale. In 1964 WCIL moved again, this time to new studios at 211 W.
