KHVH Radio
KHVH (830 AM) is a news radio station licensed to Honolulu, Hawaii, and owned by . It is also transmitting on Oceanic Spectrum digital channel 881 for the entire state of Hawaii. Its studios and transmitter are separately located in the Kalihi neighborhood of Honolulu. History KHVH stands for Kaiser Hawaiian Village Hotel in Waikiki (of Henry J. Kaiser ) which today is the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel. The original KHVH studios were at the hotel; however. the KHVH transmitting tower still stands atop the Hilton's Kalia Tower. C-QUAM
C-QUAM (Compatible QUadrature Amplitude Modulation) is the method of AM stereo broadcasting used in Canada, the United States and most other countries. It was invented in 1977 by Norman Parker, Francis Hilbert, and Yoshio Sakaie, and published in an IEEE journal. Using circuitry developed by Motorola, C-QUAM uses quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) to encode the stereo separation signal. This extra signal is then stripped down in such a way that it is compatible with the envelope detector of older receivers, hence the name C-QUAM for Compatible. Kalihi
Kalihi is a neighborhood of Honolulu on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi, United States. Split by the Likelike Highway (Route 63), it is flanked by downtown Honolulu to the east and Mapunapuna, Moanalua and Salt Lake to the west. Kalihi is the name of the ''ahupuaʻa'' (ancient land division) between Kahauiki and Kapālama in the Kona (now Honolulu) district of O'ahu. The ahupua'a consists of Kalihi Uka, Kalihi Waena and Kalihi Kai. Historically, Kalihi Kai was the site of the former Leprosy Receiving Station, where those suspected of leprosy were examined prior to treatment or being sent to Kalaupapa on the island of Molokaʻi.
