KGI Bank
KGI Bank () is a commercial bank of Taiwan. It is part of KGI Financial Holding. History Early Years as Cosmos Bank (1991–2014) The financial institution founded by Hsu Sheng-fa obtained its incorporation approval on 13 August 1991 as Cosmos Bank. It acquired its license on 14 January 1992 and officially began operations on 12 February 1992. On 10 February 2014, the bank agreed on share-swap to make it a subsidiary of KGI Financial Holding Corporation (CDF) and officially became CDF subsidiary on 15 September 2014. CDF acquired Cosmos Bank at the cost of NT$23.09 billion. KGI Bank (2015–Present) In January 2015, Cosmos Bank was renamed as KGI Commercial Bank. From this point on, CDIB's Corporate Banking and Financial Markets were ceded to KGI Commercial Bank. Hsu Sheng-fa
Hsu Sheng-fa (; 24 January 1925 – 17 April 2021) was a Taiwanese businessman and politician. He served on the Legislative Yuan as a member of the Kuomintang from 1981 to 1990. Life and career Hsu was born in 1925 in Japanese Taiwan. He founded Prince Motors in 1965. The company became a Taiwan-based sales agent of Suzuki Motors. As the company fell into debt, a layoff affecting 1,000 employees took place, which led to a protest outside company headquarters in November 2012. Hsu founded Cosmos Bank, the predecessor to KGI Bank, in 1992. He sold eighty percent of the bank's shares in 2007, and stepped down as chairman. In 2008, Hsu was investigated and questioned by the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office regarding alleged embezzlement. Hsu was a member of the Legislative Yuan between 1981 and 1990. Songshan District is a District (Taiwan), district of Taipei, Taiwan. The Songshan Airport and the Taipei Arena are located here. History Songshan was originally named Malysyakkaw, a lowland Ketagalan word meaning "Where the river twists". Its written form () was abbreviated () in 1815 during Taiwan under Qing rule, Qing rule. The Central News Agency (CNA) is the national news agency of the Republic of China (Taiwan). History The CNA agency was founded , by the Kuomintang. Party member Hsiao Tung-tzu separated the CNA from Kuomintang headquarters in 1932. The agency's headquarters was originally located in Guangzhou in Guangdong province, but had to be relocated to Taipei in 1949, following the defeat of the Republic of China government in mainland China in the Chinese Civil War. Despite the corporatisation of the agency in 1973, it continued to receive heavy government subsidies, and remained the nation's official agency. United Daily News
''United Daily News'' (UDN; ) is a newspaper published in Taiwan. It is considered to support the pan-Blue Coalition in its editorials. History UDN was founded in 1951 by Wang Tiwu as a merger of three newspapers, ''Popular Daily'' (全民日報), ''National'' (民族報), and the ''Economic Times'' (經濟時報). The three newspapers formally merged in 1953. The newspaper is owned by Wang Tiwu's daughter, Wang Shaw-lan.
