KECG (88.1 FM), is a noncommercial educational radio station, broadcasting a free-form radio variety format. Licensed to West Contra Costa Unified School District, the station is operated by the district, and broadcasts from El Cerrito High School. Translators In addition to the main transmitter on 88.1, KECG is relayed by translator K249DJ on 97.7 FM, which widens its broadcast area. This translator was originally licensed in 1994 at 89.9 FM, but the frequency was changed due to a dispute with Howell Mountain Broadcasting, licensee of what was then KNDL 89.9 FM, in Angwin. El Cerrito ( Spanish for "The Little Hill") is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States, and forms part of the San Francisco Bay Area. El Cerrito High School is a four-year public high school in the West Contra Costa Unified School District. It is located on Ashbury Avenue in El Cerrito, California, United States and serves students from El Cerrito, a portion of eastern Richmond (east of Interstate 80 and south of San Pablo Dam Road) and the unincorporated communities of East Richmond Heights and Kensington. As of the 2014-15 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,364 students and 55.2 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 24.7:1. KGO-TV (channel 7) is a television station licensed to San Francisco, California, United States, serving as the San Francisco Bay Area's ABC network outlet. Owned and operated by the network's ABC Owned Television Stations division, KGO-TV maintains studios at the ABC Broadcast Center immediately west of The Embarcadero north of the city's Financial District, and its transmitter is located atop Sutro Tower. Angwin is a census-designated place (CDP) in Napa County, California, best known as the site of Pacific Union College. It is part of the northern San Francisco Bay Area. KOSC (89.9 FM) is a non-commercial radio station licensed to Angwin, California, United States, and serving the Santa Rosa area. The station broadcasts a classical music format as a full-time simulcast of KDFC in San Francisco. It is owned by the University of Southern California. KDFC is the radio home of the San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Opera. History KANG went on the air in 1961 at 88.1 MHz, moving to 89.9 in January 1968.
