KCHN (1050 AM) is a Houston, Texas, area radio station, licensed to Brookshire, Texas serving mostly Asian listeners with broadcasts in a mix of Indian, Chinese, Mandarin, Vietnamese and Pakistani languages. Sports programming includes coverage of Houston Rockets games. The station also provides religious programs in Polish. It broadcasts on AM frequency 1050 kHz and is under ownership of Multicultural Broadcasting. History Originally licensed to Liberty, Texas in 1967 as KPXE. In 1990, Trinity River Valley Broadcasting built an FM facility and started on (the current KHIH) as of aug, 29, 1991, the 24 hour FM sister to KPXE. KPXE was sold to Arthur Liu in 1997, which included the move of the facility to Brookshire, as a station targeting the southwestern and western areas of Houston, which have a significant Asian populace. Multicultural Broadcasting is a media company based in New York City founded by Chinese-American businessman Arthur Liu. It caters mostly to the Asian American community and owns television and radio stations in several of the top markets in multiple languages. Brookshire, Texas
Brookshire is a city in Waller County, with a population of 5,066 people. It is in rural Texas. Location Brookshire is located at (29.783737, –95.954325)., 34 miles west of downtown Houston along Interstate 10, 7 miles west of Katy. It is part of the Interstate 10 Energy Corridor, part of the west Houston and Katy market, and a member of West I-10 Chamber of Commerce. The population was 4,702 as of the 2010 census, with a total area of 3.5 square miles (9.1 km). The city is named for Nathan Brookshire, a large land owner in the vicinity. He was a captain in the Texian Army and participated in the storming and capture of Bexar in 1835. KHIH (99.9 FM) is an American terrestrial radio station based in Liberty, Texas. It serves part of the Golden Triangle and is owned by Hope Media Group (formerly KSBJ Educational Foundation). The station is part of a pentacast with 4 other owned and operated Contemporary Christian facilities branded as "89.3 KSBJ", which relays the primary KSBJ in Humble, Texas.
