KVAL-TV (channel 13) is a television station in Eugene, Oregon, United States, affiliated with CBS. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, which provides certain services to dual NBC/ CW+ affiliate KMTR (channel 16) under a shared services agreement (SSA) with Roberts Media, LLC. The two stations share studios on Blanton Road in Eugene, where KVAL's transmitter is also located. KMTR maintained separate facilities on International Court in Springfield, Oregon, until 2020 when the station relocated to KVAL's building; master control and some internal operations for KMTR were based at the KVAL studios. KVAL-TV reaches additional viewers in west-central Oregon via co-owned full-power semi-satellites KCBY-TV (channel 11) in Coos Bay and KPIC (channel 4) in Roseburg. Mark Hass (born December 10, 1956) is an American politician from the US state of Oregon. A Democratic Party (United States), Democrat, he was the representative for District 14 in the Oregon State Senate from November 21, 2007, until January 10, 2021. He sought the office of Oregon Secretary of State in 2020 Oregon Secretary of State election, 2020. Early years Hass was born in Newport, Rhode Island, on December 10, 1956, and moved to Oregon with his parents as a young boy. Growing up, he was a Boy Scouts of America, Boy Scout and an Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts of America), Eagle Scout. In 1980, Hass graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in journalism. In 1981, he earned his Master of Arts in communication from the American University School of Communication. The Oregon Legislative Assembly is the state legislature for the U.S. state of Oregon. The Legislative Assembly is bicameral, consisting of an upper and lower chamber: the Senate, whose 30 members are elected to serve four-year terms; and the House of Representatives, with 60 members elected to two-year terms. There are no term limits for either chamber. ''The Register-Guard'' is a daily newspaper in the northwestern United States, published in Eugene, Oregon. It was formed in a 1930 merger of two Eugene papers, the ''Eugene Daily Guard'' and the ''Morning Register''. Bill Bradbury (May 29, 1949 – April 14, 2023) was an American politician who served as a member of the Oregon Legislative Assembly and as the 23rd Oregon secretary of state from 1999 to 2009. Bradbury was an unsuccessful candidate for the 2010 Oregon gubernatorial election. In 2010, he was appointed to the Northwest Power and Conservation Council by Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski. Early life and education Bradbury was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1949, the third child of William and Lorraine Bradbury. He grew up in Chicago, where his father was an associate professor of sociology at the University of Chicago.
