KBS Entertainment Awards
The KBS Entertainment Awards () is an event held yearly and is sponsored by Korean Broadcasting System, KBS. The awards ceremony is approximately 140 minutes long and is shown in two parts on KBS2. The ceremony features performances by K-pop artists and music parodies from ''Gag Concert'' members. This event is held at the end of each year, except in 2017, the Entertainment Awards were not held due to the Korean Broadcasting System#2017 – 2nd KBS strike against pro-government bias of its president, KBS Variety Director Strike. Variety Show
Variety show, also known as variety arts or variety entertainment, is entertainment made up of a variety of acts including musical performances, sketch comedy, magic, acrobatics, juggling, and ventriloquism. It is normally introduced by a compère (master of ceremonies) or host. The variety format made its way from the Victorian era stage in Britain and America to radio and then television. Variety shows were a staple of English language television from the late 1940s into the 1980s. While the format is still widespread in some parts of the world, such as in the United Kingdom with the '' Royal Variety Performance'', the Philippines with ''Eat Bulaga!'' and '' It's Showtime'', and South Korea with '' Running Man'', the proliferation of multichannel television and evolving viewer tastes have affected the popularity of variety shows in the United States. Happy Sunday
''Happy Sunday'' () is a Korean reality-variety show shown on the KBS2 network, which competes directly against MBC's '' Sunday Night'' and SBS's '' Good Sunday'' line-up. Although it has been broadcast since 2003, its line-up of shows has frequently changed, with a complete revamp occurring in Spring of 2007. At that time, three new shows were introduced – ''Are You Ready'', ''High-Five'', and ''Immortal Songs''. Due to its poor reception, ''Are You Ready'' quickly evolved into '' 1 Night 2 Days'', with most of its cast intact. In late November 2008, ''Happy Sunday'' had a revamp of its shows keeping '' 1 Night 2 Days'' as the second segment and bringing back ''Immortal Songs'' which was previously liked by viewers. However, in late March, ''Immortal Songs'' ended once again and was replaced with '' Qualifications of Men'', making ''Happy Sunday'' an all-male cast, with a total of 14 members. ''Hello Counselor'' () was a South Korean social commentary talk show that debuted on November 22, 2010. It was hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Lee Young-ja, and Cultwo ( Jung Chan-woo, Kim Tae-gyun). Choi Tae-joon joined the show as host from August 29, 2016 to September 4, 2017. After 8 years as host, Jung Chan-woo has left the show after the broadcast of April 23, 2018 due to health problems.
