KBAY
KBAY (94.5 FM, "Bay Country 94.5") is a commercial radio station licensed to Gilroy, California, serving San Jose and the San Francisco Bay Area, and broadcasting a country music radio format. KBAY is owned by Alpha Media, along with sister station 106.5 KEZR. The radio studios and offices are located off U.S. Route 101 and Hellyer Ave in South San Jose. KBAY has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 44,000 watts. The transmitter is on a hill in Santa Teresa County Park, near Coyote Peak, south of San Jose. KUFX
KUFX (98.5 FM) is a classic rock radio station licensed to San Jose, California. Its studios are located along Junipero Serra Boulevard in Daly City, and the transmitter is located on Blackberry Hill above Los Gatos. KUFX is owned by Salt Lake City-based Bonneville International. It was previously operated by Entercom; as part of its merger with CBS Radio, the company was required to divest four of its radio stations in San Francisco in order stay within ownership caps. Gilroy, California
Gilroy is a city in Santa Clara County, California, United States, south of the San Francisco Bay Area. It had a population of 59,520 as of the 2020 census. Gilroy's origins lie in the village of San Ysidro, which developed in the early 19th century from Rancho San Ysidro. This land had been granted to Californio ranchero Ygnacio Ortega in 1809. Following Ygnacio's death in 1833, his daughter Clara Ortega de Gilroy and son-in-law John Gilroy inherited the largest portion of the rancho, and began developing the settlement. When the town was incorporated in 1868, it was renamed in honor of John Gilroy, a Scotsman who had emigrated to California in 1814, naturalized as a Mexican citizen, adopted the Spanish language, and converted to Catholicism. Lorenzo Milam
Lorenzo Wilson Milam, born on August 2, 1933, in Jacksonville, Florida, Jacksonville, Florida; died on July 19, 2020, in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico, was an American writer and activist who was instrumental in starting many of the first listener-supported community radio stations in the United States, beginning with KNDD, KRAB in Seattle in 1962.
