KAYL (990 AM, ''JUAN'') is a radio station licensed to serve the community of Storm Lake, Iowa. The station broadcasts a Regional Mexican format in Spanish. KAYL has been owned by Community First Broadcasting since 2010. History KAYL signed on November 14, 1948. It was owned by Cornbelt Broadcasting Company with the original shareholders of Oscar Grau, Joe Kevane, Paul Dlugosh, Dr. R.E. Malliard and Z.Z. White, operating on a daytime-only basis with 250 watts. 990 kHz is a clear-channel frequency assigned to CBW in Winnipeg, Canada, which resulted in KAYL being licensed as a daytime-only broadcaster to avoid interference. KAYL received its continuous power broadcast license in September 1992, enabling the station to remain on the air 24 hours a day with reduced power between sunset and sunrise. KAYL-FM (101.7 FM) is a radio station licensed to serve the community of Storm Lake, Iowa. KAYL-FM was owned by Sorenson Broadcasting Corporation and transferred to Community First Broadcasting. KAYL-FM began broadcasting on 101.5 MHz in 1949 and was owned by Cornbelt Broadcasting Company with the original shareholders of Oscar Grau, Joe Kavane, Paul Dlugosch, Dr. R.E. Malliard and Z.Z. White. KAYL-FM upgraded the FM transmitter and began broadcasting in stereo in June 1979. The frequency change to 101.7 MHz occurred in September 1995. The broadcast tower, located east of Storm Lake, collapsed on August 8, 1969, during a severe storm. The station was back on the air with a temporary antenna within about 6½ hours. In November 1997, KBVU-FM at Buena Vista University started broadcasting from the KAYL tower. Kayl ( lb, Keel or (locally) ) is a Communes of Luxembourg, commune and town in south-western Luxembourg. It is part of the Esch-sur-Alzette (canton), canton of Esch-sur-Alzette, which is part of the Luxembourg (district), district of Luxembourg. , the town of Kayl, which lies in the centre of the commune, has a population of 4,237. Other towns within the commune include Tétange. The first surviving written reference to 'Keyle' dates from 1235. Since the thirteenth century the name of the town has not changed significantly, although more than twenty different spellings have been identified.
