KATM (103.3 MHz, Kat Country 103) is a commercial FM radio station in Modesto, California and also heard in the nearby cities of Stockton and Merced. The station is owned by Cumulus Media and airs a country music format. Its studios are in Stockton, and its transmitter is located off South Bird Road in Vernalis, California. KATM often works with local charities and community organizations providing air time and fundraising opportunities, most notably the Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Toys for Tots, the Second Harvest Food Bank, the American Cancer Society and others. KHOP is an FM radio station serving the Modesto and Stockton areas. It broadcasts on FM frequency 95.1 and is under ownership of Cumulus Media. KHOP refers to itself as KHOP @ 95-1 or All The Hits. Its studios are in Stockton and its transmitter is located northeast of Oakdale, California. KHOP plays mostly pop music. It was once referred to as "The Pop Music Channel", but has dropped that slogan in favor of "All the Hits." Prior to the switch to a pop music format, KHOP had a rock format focusing mostly on hard rock from the 1970s and '80s. Before being a rock station, KHOP was an alternative music channel and switched in the mid-90s by advertising their own demise prior to the station's format change. KESP (970 AM) is an all-sports radio station in Modesto, California, United States. The station serves Modesto, Stockton, Lodi, and surrounding communities of the northern San Joaquin Valley. It is currently owned by Cumulus Media. Its studios are in Stockton, and its transmitter is located in Modesto. KESP is the flagship station of the Modesto Nuts of the Low-A West baseball league, and the flagship station of Pacific Tigers college basketball team. It is also a member of the Oakland Athletics, San Francisco 49ers, San Jose Sharks, Golden State Warriors, and California Golden Bears radio networks. Vernalis is an unincorporated community in San Joaquin County, California, United States. Vernalis is located on California State Route 33 southeast of Tracy. It was named after two daughters of local ranchers: Verna Carpenter and Alice Hamilton. Vernalis has a post office with ZIP code 95385. The first post office in the area opened in San Joaquin City in 1851; that post office closed in 1852, reopened in 1874, and was moved southwest in 1888, after which its name was changed to Vernalis (Latin for ''springlike, related to the spring''). Turlock, California
Turlock is a city in Stanislaus County, California, United States. Its estimated 2019 population of 73,631 made it the second-largest city in Stanislaus County after Modesto. History Founded on December 22, 1871, by prominent grain farmer John William Mitchell, the town consisted of a post office, a depot, a grain warehouse and a few other buildings. Mitchell declined the honor of having the town named for himself. The name "Turlock" was then chosen instead. The name is believed to originate from the Irish village Turlough.
