K.P. Jayasankar
K.P. Jayasankar is a documentary filmmaker and researcher who lives in Mumbai. He is currently Professor at the School of Media and Cultural Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Jointly with Anjali Monteiro, he has over thirty-five documentary films and has over 30 national and international awards in film festivals. Career Jayasankar was born in Kochi, Kerala, on 28 November. He completed his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Maharaja's College, Kochi in 1973 and a master's degree in German studies from Department of Foreign Languages, Mumbai University, in 1982. He has done his Ph.D. in humanities and social sciences from Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay, in 1991. He joined Tata Institute of Social Sciences in 1986. International Film Festival Of India
The International Film Festival of India (IFFI), founded in 1952, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. 42nd International Film Festival Of India
The 42nd International Film Festival of India was held on 23 to 30 November 2011 in Goa. The International competition (Feature) was chaired by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, and Short film competition was chaired by Basu Bhattacharya. For the first time the 42d IFFI had launched its own poster with a depiction of fest motif "Peacock", made as a "dancing peacock" by veteran film design and art consultant Thotta Tharani. The IFFI signature film was conceptualized by veteran film maker Shaji Karun. New sections such as “Kaleidoscope”, 3 D, Animation, European discoveries, Master Classes and Russian Classics were included, along with the inaugural Best Director Award. Maharaja%27s College, Ernakulam
The Maharaja's College is a government college of higher education located in Kochi, Kerala. Established in 1875, it is one of the oldest colleges in India. Anjali Monteiro is a documentary filmmaker, media educator and researcher who lives in Mumbai. She is currently Professor and Dean at the School of Media and Cultural Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Jointly with K.P. Jayasankar, she has made around thirty-five documentary films on various subjects. Biography Anjali Monteiro was born in Pune, Maharashtra (on July 13). Her parents were Inocencio Gracias Monteiro, an army engineer and Sofia Cordeiro Monteiro, a school teacher, both from Goa. She completed her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Sophia College for Women, Bombay University in 1975 and her master's degree in Economics from Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune University in 1977. She completed her Ph.D. in Sociology from Goa University and the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, under the guidance of noted scholar Professor Ashis Nandy in 1994. Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is a multi-campus public research university in Mumbai, India.
