K.F.C. Moerbeke
KFC Moerbeke (further shortened to KFCM) is a Belgian football club based in Moerbeke. The club is member of the Royal Belgian Football Association with the matricule number 2990. The main coulours are white and green. The club plays with a relatively large number of homegrown players, increasing the number of paying spectators at home and away. History 20th century: foundation and stability KFC Moerbeke was founded on 1 April 1927. For many years, it was a steady staple in the lowest tier 4th Provincial Division with short interludes in the 3rd Provincial. 21st century: 2nd Provincial Division In 2007, Moerbeke won another 4th Division section championship. In 2011, the club won a championship in the 3rd Provincial Division, after a 1–0 victory over HRS Haasdonk, promoting KFC to the 2nd Provincial Division. Belgian Provincial Leagues
The Belgian Provincial leagues are the lower leagues for Belgian football. Until 2016, these were at levels 5-8 in the Belgian football league system however as part of the reform an extra level was created causing the provincial leagues to drop to levels 6-9. The provincial leagues are divided into 9 regional league systems (one for each province, but Flemish Brabant and Walloon Brabant are merged and contain also the football teams from the Brussels Capital Region). Each league system is itself divided into 4 levels (except for Luxembourg where there are only 3). The number of leagues at each level depends on the province, but every province must have only one league at the top level. Moerbeke () is a former municipality in the Belgian province of East Flanders. It is sometimes unofficially called Moerbeke-Waas () to distinguish between this place and in Geraardsbergen. The municipality comprises the town of Moerbeke proper, and part of the Dutch-Belgian village Koewacht. In 2021, Moerbeke had a total population of 6,619. The total area is 37.80 km². Moerbeke was known very well for its sugar refinery. It is thought to have been the hometown of William of Moerbeke, who as Bishop of Corinth produced a new translation into Latin of the works of Aristotle, including certain which had been rediscovered from Arab sources, in the late 13th century.
