Jirama
Jirama ( ''Jiro sy rano malagasy'') is a state-owned electric utility and water services company in Madagascar. History The Jirama was established on 17 October 1975 when the Société Malagasy des Eaux et Electricité and the Société des Energies de Madagascar merged. Up until 1999, it was the only state-owned electricity company of the country. After 1999, the Jirama maintained its monopoly on transportation and distribution networks. In 2007, when Antananrivo's Mayor Andry Rajoelina took office, the city's treasury had a debt of 8.2 billion Malagasy Ariary (approximately 4.6 million U.S. dollars). On 4 January 2008, because of unpaid debts to the Jirama, the city of Antananarivo was hit by a general water cutoff and brownouts of the city's street lights. After an audit, it was found that the Jirama owed about the same amount of money to the city, and the sanction on the city's population was relieved. Sahofika Hydroelectric Power Station, also referred to as Sahofika Power Station, is a hydroelectric power station under construction in Madagascar. Location The power station is located across the Onive River, approximately , outside of the capital city of Antananarivo. Overview The power station is the largest electricity generation project in Madagascar. The dam will be high, creating a reservoir with a surface area of . From the reservoir, water will flow through a pipeline that measures long to arrive at the power house. The power house comprises seven turbines, each rated at 29.3 megawatts, for a total output of 205 megawatts. Mandraka Power Station
Mandraka Dam is a gravity dam on the Mandraka River near Mandraka in the Analamanga Region of Madagascar. The dam was constructed by a French firm by 1956 and creates Lake Mandraka. Antelomita Hydroelectric Power Station
The Antelomita Hydroelectric Power Station is located in the rural commune Anjeva Gara of the Analamanga Region, Madagascar. The hydroelectric power station comprises two parts, Antelomita I and II. Both are adjacent to one another on separate water falls along the Ikopa River. Each water fall is dammed and water is diverted to the power station; each of which contains three generators. Andry Nirina Rajoelina (Malagasy: ; born 30 May 1974) is a Malagasy politician and businessman who has been the president of Madagascar since 2019. He was previously president of a provisional government from 2009 to 2014 following a political crisis and military-backed coup, having held the office of Mayor of Antananarivo for one year prior. Before entering the political arena, Rajoelina was involved in the private sector, including a printing and advertising company called Injet in 1999 and the ''Viva'' radio and television networks in 2007. He formed political party Young Malagasies Determined and was elected Mayor of Antananarivo in 2007.
