Jørleif Uthaug
Jørleif Uthaug (3 August 1911 – 25 August 1990) was a Norwegian illustrator, painter and sculptor. Biography He was born at Brekstad in Ørland Municipality in Sør-Trøndelag, Norway. He was the son of Daniel Meier Uthaug (1886–1977) and Anne Johanne Grande (1890–1962). He taught at Trondhjem Technical College (1932), at Stabell's School of Design (1934–1935) and at Trondhjem Technical Middle School (1936). He studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts under Per Krohg and Axel Revold (1941–43), then under Jean Heiberg (1945–1947). He made his debut as an artist in 1948 at the Trondheim Art Association. He had his first solo exhibition in 1949 at Galleri Per in Oslo. Brekstad
Brekstad is a town in Ørland Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located along the Trondheimsfjord at the entrance to the Stjørnfjorden. The town is located about south of the village of Uthaug and about west of the villages of Austrått and Ottersbo. The town has a population (2024) of 2,437 and a population density of . Brekstad received town status on 8 October 2005, thus becoming the 95th town in Norway. The major employers in Brekstad are Ørland Main Air Station / Ørland Airport, Mascot Høie linen factory, Coop Fosen, and Tine Midt-Norge. Brekstad hosts one courthouse for the Trøndelag District Court. The Ørland Church and Ørland cultural center are both located in the town. Amphitrite, The Wave And The Sea Birds
''Amphitrite, the wave and the sea birds'' () is a tall stainless steel sculpture by Jørleif Uthaug located in Porsgrunn, Norway. The work consists of a nude female figure (representing Amphitrite, the wife of Neptune (mythology), Neptune) and two seabirds gliding over a large Geometric abstraction, geometric wave. It is one of Uthaug's most recognizable and celebrated works. The piece, which was unveiled in May 1985, is one of only a few Uthaug sculptures to include Figurative art, figurative elements, but it also displays many features typical of Uthaug's work, including Modern sculpture, modern style, Sculpture#Metal, metal construction, and themes of sailing, seafaring and the ocean. Lambertseter () is a suburb of the city of Oslo, Norway, and is part of the borough of Nordstrand. Lambertseter was built over a short period starting from 1951, and was the very first modern suburb of Oslo.
