Jørgen Jensen (soldier)
Jørgen Christian Jensen (15 January 1891 – 31 May 1922) was a Danish-born List of Australian Victoria Cross recipients, Australian recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for courage, gallantry in battle that could be awarded to a member of the Australian Defence Force, Australian armed forces. Jensen emigrated to Australia in 1909, becoming a British subject at Adelaide, South Australia, in 1914. A sailor and labourer before World War I, he enlisted in the First Australian Imperial Force, Australian Imperial Force (AIF) in March 1915, serving with the 10th Battalion (Australia), 10th Battalion during the latter stages of the Gallipoli campaign. After the Australian force withdrew to Egypt, Jensen was transferred to the newly formed 50th Battalion (Australia), 50th Battalion, and sailed for France with the unit in June 1916. Jørgen Jensen (politician)
Jørgen Jensen (1920–1987) was a Danish trade unionist and politician who headed the Communist Party of Denmark (CPD) for ten years between 1977 and 1987. Early life and education Jensen was born in Copenhagen on 18 January 1920. His father was a worker. Jensen was trained as a car mechanic. Career Jensen began to involve in the trade union movement in 1940 and joined the CPD in 1945. During his participation in the CPD the party was still illegal. Jensen was among the leading figures of the All-Danish Committee for Peace between 1952 and 1962. He was elected as a member of the CPD's central committee in 1955 and was a member of its executive committee. He also led the trade unions committee of the CPD. He became the chairman of a division within the metalworkers’ trade union in the Lyngby district of Copenhagen in 1962 and he was elected chairman of the automotive repair workers' trade union in 1969. Jørgen Pilegaard Jensen (10 April 1944 – 2 October 2009) was a Denmark, Danish middle- and long-distance runner. Career Jensen won the inaugural 1975 edition of Amsterdam Marathon on 3 May 1975, clocking 2:16:51. He ran the Olympic marathons in 1972 Summer Olympics, 1972 and 1976 Summer Olympics, 1976 and finished in 30th and 28th place, respectively. Between 1966 and 1976 Jensen won eight national team titles (4 × 1500 m relay and cross-country) and eight individual titles, in the 5000 m (1966), 10000 m (1973), 20 km (1972 and 1974) and marathon (1973-1976).
