Jørgen Ditleff Bondesen
Jørgen Ditleff Bondesen (7 April 1855 – 3 May 1939) was a Denmark, Danish composer and music theorist. He was a student at The Royal Danish Academy of Music 1873–1875 under E. Neupert, V. Tofte G. Matthison-Hansen, J.P.E. Hartmann and Niels W. Gade. From 1876–1886, he was assistant organist in Holmen Church. From 1883–1901 he worked as a teacher at the conservatory in piano and theory. Among his students were the pianists Johanne Stockmarr, Frederick Schnedler-Pedersen George Høeberg, organist Camillo Carlsen, and the composers Ludolf Nielsen and Siegfried Salomon. In 1901 Bondesen moved to Aarhus, where he founded Aarhus Academy of Music, which he led from 1902 to 1926. Both times in Copenhagen and later he wrote numerous music theory books, used much today. Ludolf Nielsen
Karl Henrik Ludolf Nielsen (29 January 1876 – 16 October 1939) was a Danish composer, violinist, conductor, and pianist. Today he is considered one of the most important Danish composers of the early 1900s (together with the more famous Carl Nielsen). Life Nielsen was born in Nørre Tvede, Denmark. Although his family lacked any musicians, Ludolf took to music at a very young age. After a few years of violin lessons from local fiddlers, at eight he was playing at local festivals and other country occasions. In his mid-teens, he moved to Copenhagen, which exposed him to a much broader musical milieu. At 19, he won a scholarship to the Danish Royal Academy of Music. There, he studied violin, piano, and music theory. His composing talents were apparently self-developed. When about 20, Nielsen started composing, at the same time as Tivoli Orchestra hired him as a violinist. Siegfried Salomon
Siegfried Salomon (3 August 1885 – 29 October 1962) was a Danish composer. Salomon was born in Copenhagen. In 1899 he entered the Conservatory in Leipzig and studied there for four years. He also spent some time in Paris studying with Paul Le Flem. From 1903 he worked as an orchestral cellist and violist and appeared as a soloist in Copenhagen, Paris and Stockholm. His greatest success as a composer and conductor was with the opera ''Leonora Christina'' which premiered at Det Kongelige Teater in 1926. The opera was successful due to its use of popular style and the performance of the soprano Tenna Frederiksen Kraft in the title role. His output includes two other operas, ''Duen og slangen'' (''Doves and Serpents''; 1925) and ''Dronning Dagmar'' (''Queen Dagmar''; 1928). Among his other works is a Violin Concerto in g, opus 26 from 1916, a cello concerto in D minor, and a piano concerto in A minor. He died in his native city of Copenhagen.
