Jóhann Páll Jóhannsson
Jóhann Páll Jóhannsson (born 31 May 1992) is an Icelandic politician, government minister and member of the Althing. A member of the Social Democratic Alliance, he has represented Reykjavík South (Althing constituency), Reykjavík South since November 2024. He previously represented Reykjavík North (Althing constituency), Reykjavík North from September 2021 to November 2024. He has been Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate (Iceland), Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate since December 2024. Early life Jóhann was born on 31 May 1992 in Reykjavík. He is the son of composer and violinist Bryndís Pálsdóttir. He grew up in the :is:Laugarás (Reykjavík), Laugarás neighbourhood of Reykjavík. Bjarni Benediktsson (born 1970)
Bjarni Benediktsson (; born 26 January 1970), known colloquially as Bjarni Ben, is an Icelandic former politician who served as the prime minister of Iceland from January to November 2017 and again from April to December 2024. He was the leader of the Icelandic Independence Party from 2009 to 2025, and served as the minister of finance and economic affairs from 2013 to 2017, a post he later retained under Katrín Jakobsdóttir and held until his resignation in October 2023. After serving briefly as the minister for foreign affairs from 2023 to 2024, Bjarni became prime minister again on 9 April 2024. Previously ''Kjarninn'' was a weekly digital news magazine served via Apple App Store aimed at tablet computer users but PDFs were also available at the website. The Progressive Party (, FSF) is an agrarian political party in Iceland. For most of its history, the Progressive Party has governed with the Independence Party. ''DV'' (''Dagblaðið Vísir'') is an online newspaper in Iceland published by Torg ehf. It came into existence as a daily newspaper in 1981 when two formerly independent newspapers, Vísir and Dagblaðið, merged. Early on it was one of the largest newspapers in Iceland and at one point had a 64% readership in Iceland. In the 1990s its readership started to dwindle and in 2003 its publisher was declared bankrupt. It was resurrected a week later by the publisher of Fréttablaðið. In 2006 it was changed from a daily newspaper into a weekly one. Since then it has changed publishers regularly and in 2018 its publisher, DV ehf., went bankrupt.
