''Jääpeili'' is a 1928 poetry collection by Finnish poet Aaro Hellaakoski, considered by contemporary Finnish literature critics to be one of his best works. Overview The poetry's innovative pictorial typography in the poems "Sade" and "Dolce far niente" recalled Apollinaire's ''Calligrammes'' (1918); "Sade" especially recalls his "Il pleut", and both are classified as visual poetry. Other sources of inspiration for the poems were extracted from Cubism and the works of the Italian poet F.T. Marinetti, writer of the Manifeste du futurisme (1912). Aaro Hellaakoski
Aaro Hellaakoski (June 22, 1893 – November 23, 1952) was a Finnish poet whose work includes some of the earliest examples of modernism in Finnish literature. Hellaakoski was born in Oulu. By profession he was a geographer conducting studies in physical geography and geomorphology and working as a school teacher of geography as well as a university teacher. Mika Waltari
Mika Toimi Waltari (; 19 September 1908 – 26 August 1979) was a Finnish writer, best known for his best-selling novel ''The Egyptian'' (). He was extremely productive. Besides his novels he also wrote poetry, short stories, crime novels, plays, essays, travel stories, film scripts, and rhymed texts for comic strips by Asmo Alho. Olavi Paavolainen
Olavi Paavolainen (17 September 1903 – 19 July 1964) was a Finnish writer, essayist and poet. He was one of the prominent figures of the literary group Tulenkantajat (″The Flame Bearers″), and one of the most influential Finnish writers of the inter-war period. Paavolainen started his poetry career in the literary magazine ''Nuori Voima''. Paavolainen was interested in Fascism and National Socialism, but after the World War II he turned to the political left. Paavolainen's notable works include the 1936 travel report ''Kolmannen valtakunnan vieraana'' (″A Guest of the Third Reich″) and the 1946 ''Synkkä yksinpuhelu'' (″A Gloomy Soliloquy″), based on his war diaries.
