Justin Roper
Justin Parks Roper (born July 28, 1987) is an American former football quarterback. He played college football at Oregon and Montana, and professionally in the Arena Football League (AFL) with the Chicago Rush and Orlando Predators. Early life Roper lettered in football, basketball, track and field and swimming for the Buford High School Wolves of Buford, Georgia. He was ranked as one of the top 28 quarterbacks in the country after compiling a 12–1 record and an 8-AA league championship in 2005. College career Roper was redshirted by the Oregon Ducks of the University of Oregon in 2006. He made his first collegiate start in the 2007 Sun Bowl on December 31, 2007 against the South Florida Bulls, throwing for four touchdowns and leading the Ducks to a 56–21 victory. He finished his career at the University of Oregon with nine touchdown passes and 952 passing yards. The quarterback (QB) is a position in gridiron football who are members of the offensive side of the ball and mostly line up directly behind the Lineman (football), offensive line. In modern American football, the quarterback is usually considered the leader of the offense, and is often responsible for calling the play in the huddle. Passer Rating
Passer rating (also known as passing efficiency in college football) is a measure of the performance of passers, primarily quarterbacks, in gridiron football. There are two formulas currently in use: one used by both the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL), and the other used in NCAA football. Passer rating is calculated using a player's passing attempts, completions, yards, touchdowns, and interceptions. Passer rating in the NFL is on a scale from 0 to 158.3. Passing efficiency in college football is on a scale from −731.6 to 1261.6. Since 1973, passer rating has been the official formula used by the NFL to determine its passing leader. 2008 Oregon Ducks Football Team
The 2008 Oregon Ducks football team represented the University of Oregon as a member of the Pacific-10 Conference (Pac-10) during the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Led by Mike Bellotti in his 14th and final season as head coach, the Ducks compiled an overall record of 10–3 with a mark of 7–2 in conference play, tying for second place in the Pac-10. The 2007 Brut Sun Bowl, part of the 2007-08 NCAA football bowl games season, was played on December 31, 2007, at Sun Bowl Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas, El Paso, between the South Florida Bulls and the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks were playing without quarterback Dennis Dixon, who finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy balloting but who had season-ending ACL surgery in November. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university.
