Justin Martin (born April 4, 1995) is a Canadian professional box lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and the Oakville Rock of Major Series Lacrosse. Hailing from Oakville, Ontario, Martin began his junior lacrosse career in 2013 with the Junior B Oakville Buzz. In 2015, he moved up to Junior A with the Burlington Chiefs. Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) is a Senior A box lacrosse league with 7 teams based in Ontario, Canada, sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association. The league championship team each year goes on to play against the champions of the Western Lacrosse Association for the Mann Cup in September. The Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) is considered the most competitive Junior A men's box lacrosse league in the world and the number one source for talent for the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The OJLL is sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association. It is an 11 team league wherein the top 8 go to the playoffs and battle it out for top spot in Ontario. Lacrosse People From Ontario
Lacrosse is a contact team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins with the indigenous people of North America as early as the 12th century. The game was extensively modified by European colonists, reducing the violence, to create its current collegiate and professional form. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. The sport has five versions that have different sticks, fields, rules and equipment: field lacrosse, women's lacrosse, box lacrosse, lacrosse sixes and intercrosse. The men's games, field lacrosse (outdoor) and box lacrosse (indoor), are contact sports and all players wear protective gear: helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, and elbow pads. The Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) is an association of men's field lacrosse teams connected with several universities in Ontario and Quebec. The Guelph Gryphons are the athletic teams that represent the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The Oakville Rock are Senior "A" box lacrosse team from Oakville, Ontario. They play in the Major Series Lacrosse league where under the current format, they compete in 20 regular season games (10 at home) from May through July and playoffs beginning in August and ending with the Mann Cup in September. The Rock play their home games at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville. History Formerly the ''Ajax-Pickering Rock''¸ the team began competition in 2003 in the Senior "B" loop. Within 3 years of their founding, the Ajax Rock finished first in the OLA Senior "B" League and reached the finals against the Owen Sound Woodsmen. The Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League (OJBLL) is a box lacrosse league sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association in Canada. The league features twenty-five teams in Ontario, one in Quebec, and one in the Akwesasne (which straddles the two aforementioned provinces and New York (state), New York) that annually play a 20-game schedule and four rounds of playoffs for the J.
