Justin Kent
Justin Kent (born 30 April 1992) is a Canadian long-distance runner. In the marathon, he holds personal best of 2:13:07 and represented Canada at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. Athletics career After graduating from Kwantlen Park Secondary School in Surrey, British Columbia, Kent enrolled at the University of British Columbia where he would compete for the UBC Thunderbirds. As a Thunderbird, Kent specialized in the 3000 metres steeplechase, culminating in a NAIA title in 2014 and a bronze medal performance in 2015. In 2019, he represented Canada at the World Cross Country Championships in the mixed relay, finishing seventh as part of a team including Kevin Robertson, Regan Yee, and Erica Digby. 2023 World Athletics Road Running Championships
The 2023 World Athletics Road Running Championships are scheduled to take place in Riga, Latvia, on . As the inaugural World Athletics Road Running Championships, they will include the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships, which were last held in 2020. A flat, single-lap marathon course in the Baltics' largest city. All courses are traffic-free. The championships are scheduled to hold races for the half marathon, 5K, and mile distances, and also include mass-participation events for the same. 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships
The 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships were hosted in the city of Aarhus in Denmark. It was the 43rd edition of the championships and was held on 30 March 2019. A part of the course was run on the grounds and grass roof of the Moesgaard Museum. The race was held in challenging conditions, due to the very muddy course and steep hills. The senior men's race was won by Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei, while the senior women's race was won by Kenyan Hellen Obiri. The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run (typically pronounced 'fifteen-hundred metres') is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately miles. The event is closely associated with its slightly longer cousin, the mile race, from which it derives its nickname "the metric mile". The 2017 Jeux de la Francophonie, also known as ''VIIIèmes Jeux de la Francophonie'' (French for ''8th Francophone Games''), informally known as Abidjan 2017, took place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from July 21–30.
