Exile (American Band)
Exile is an American band originally formed in 1963. In the 1970s, they were known as a rock band that had a major hit single with " Kiss You All Over" in 1978. After several lineup changes, the band was re-launched as a country act that achieved additional success in the 1980s and '90s. J.P. Pennington is the only current member of the band remaining from its early days. Career Early years The origins of Exile were with a high school band in Richmond, Kentucky, called the Fascinations, which featured singer Jimmy Stokley. In 1963, the Fascinations merged with another local band and became Jimmy Stokley and the Exiles, with singer/guitarist J.P. Pennington, then age 14, joining a short time later. They toured regionally with the Dick Clark Caravan of Stars in 1965. Their name was later shortened to The Exiles, apparently to show support for Cuban refugees. James Timothy DuBois (born May 4, 1948 is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Nashville-based songwriter and recording industry executive who has headed both Arista Records (Nashville Division) and Universal South Records. As a songwriter he wrote five No. 1 country hits. His most successful song was the world-wide hit " Love in the First Degree" recorded by the group Alabama. DuBois' started playing guitar in bands as a youth. He received three academic scholarships to Oklahoma State University to study accounting; he earned two advanced degrees and became a senior financial analyst for the Texas Federal Reserve Bank, as well as worked for Arthur Anderson. Country pop (also known as pop country or urban cowboy) is a fusion genre of country music and pop music that was developed by members of the country genre out of a desire to reach a larger, mainstream audience. Marc Beeson
Marc Beeson (born December 20, 1954 in Champaign, Illinois) is an American country music singer and songwriter. Beeson has co-written several singles which have reached the Hot Country Songs charts. Life and career Beeson moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1990. One of his first co-writes was " Even Now", a top 20 hit for Exile. In 1992, he co-wrote Restless Heart's "When She Cries", which won him Country Song of the Year and Pop Song of the Year awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Beeson signed to BNA Records in 1994, charting at number 70 with "A Wing and a Prayer". In 1997, Beeson founded the group Burnin' Daylight with former Exile member Sonny LeMaire and former Southern Pacific member Kurt Howell. This group recorded one album for Curb Records and charted three singles. Beeson has returned to songwriting, including Pat Green's 2008 single " Let Me". Alfred William "Sonny" LeMaire (born September 16, 1947) is an American country music artist. LeMaire is best known as being the bass guitarist of the band Exile, a role that he first held in 1977. After lead singer J. P. Pennington quit the band in 1989, LeMaire alternated with Paul Martin on lead vocals, including the singles " Nobody's Talking" and " Yet". Following Exile's initial 1993 disbanding, LeMaire played bass for Burnin' Daylight in the mid-nineties, reuniting permanently with his " Kiss You All Over" bandmates in 2008. Lyman Corbitt McAnally Jr. (; born July 15, 1957), known professionally as Mac McAnally, is an American country music singer-songwriter, session musician, and record producer.
