Jure Balkovec
Jure Balkovec (born 9 September 1994) is a Slovenian footballer who plays as a defender for Turkish club Alanyaspor and the Slovenia national team. Club career In January 2018, Balkovec left Domžale and signed for Italian Serie B outfit Bari, only to move to Hellas Verona in the same league a few months later after the financial collapse of Bari. In September 2020, Balkovec moved to play in Turkey for Fatih Karagümrük. In summer 2022, he joined compatriot Miha Mevlja at fellow Turkish side Alanyaspor. International career Balkovec made his debut for Slovenia in an October 2018 Nations League match against Cyprus, coming on as a 58th-minute substitute for Bojan Jokić. Slovenia National Football Team
The Slovenia national football team ( sl, Slovenska nogometna reprezentanca) represents Slovenia in men's international football and is controlled by the Football Association of Slovenia, the governing body for football in Slovenia. The squad is under the global jurisdiction of FIFA and is governed in Europe by UEFA. It competes in the three major professional tournaments available to European nations: the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Nations League and the UEFA European Championship. Miha Mevlja (born 12 June 1990) is a Slovenian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back. Club career Mevlja began his career with Gorica, where he eventually spent four years with the first-team. In the summer of 2013 Mevlja joined Lausanne-Sport on a free transfer, his first club abroad, and competed in the Swiss Super League after signing a two-year contract. On 31 August 2017, Mevlja signed a four-year contract with Zenit St. Petersburg. On 21 February 2019, he returned to Rostov on loan. On 2 September 2019, he signed a two-year contract with PFC Sochi. On 19 July 2021, he joined Turkish club Alanyaspor on a three-year contract. The Slovenian PrvaLiga ( sl, Prva slovenska nogometna liga, ), currently named Prva liga Telemach due to sponsorship reasons, also known by the abbreviation 1. The Slovenian Second Football League ( sl, Druga slovenska nogometna liga or commonly 2. SNL) is the second highest football league in Slovenia. The league was formed in 1991 and is operated by the Football Association of Slovenia. Format and rules In its inaugural season ( 1991–92), the Slovenian Second League was divided into two regional groups (East and West), with both winners directly promoted to the Slovenian PrvaLiga. In 1992, a unified league was formed with 16 clubs playing the round-robin system, which lasted until 2003. The Slovenian Football Cup ( sl, Pokal Nogometne zveze Slovenije, ) is the top knockout tournament of Slovenian football and the second most important football competition in Slovenia after the Slovenian PrvaLiga championship.
