Jur River
The Jur River ( Luo River) is a river in western South Sudan, flowing through the Bahr el Ghazal and Equatoria regions. About long, it flows north and northeast, joining the Bahr el Ghazal River on the western side of the Sudd wetlands. The Jur River (Luo River) is part of the Nile basin, as the Bahr al-Ghazal flows into the White Nile. The Luo River is a seasonal stream. Its discharge can reach in September. The upper course of the Luo River is also called the Sue. Course The Jur River's headwaters flow from the Congo-Nile Divide, which separates the Nile and Congo River basins, along South Sudan's border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic. Jurong East MRT station is an elevated Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the North–South MRT line, North–South (NSL) and East–West MRT line, East–West (EWL) lines in Jurong East, Singapore. Situated along Jurong Gateway Road, the station is located within the vicinity of Jem, Singapore, Jem, Westgate (Singapore), Westgate, IMM (Singapore), IMM, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, Jurong East Bus Interchange and Jurong Town Hall Bus Interchange. The station is operated by SMRT Trains. The station opened on 5 November 1988 as part of the MRT extension to Lakeside. Luwo (Luo, ''Dheluwo''), is a language spoken by the Luo people of Bahr el Ghazal region in South Sudan. The language is predominantly spoken in the western and northern parts of Bahr el Ghazal. The Luwo form a majority in the Jur River County. The language is part of the Luo languages of East Africa and is especially related to the languages of South Sudan such as Anyuak and Päri with whom it forms a dialect cluster. Etymology The Luwo language is spoken by the Luwo (or Jur Col), an ethnic group in South Sudan. Jur is exonym adopted from the local Dinka language Dinka (natively , or simply ) is a Nilotic dialect cluster spoken by the Dinka people, a major ethnic group of South Sudan. There are several main varieties, such as Padang, Rek, Agaar, Ciec, Malual, Apaak, Aliab, Bor, Hol, Nyarweng, Twic Eas ... whose speakers are the Luwo's northern and eastern neighbours. Jur Hronec (May 17, 1881; Gočovo, Rožňava District – December 1, 1959; Bratislava) was a Slovak mathematician. Early years Jur Hronec was born in Gočovo, Slovakia (then Gócs, Kingdom of Hungary). He grew up in modest circumstances in a farmers family. After graduating from high school in Rožňava he studied mathematics and physics at the University of Kolozsvár under supervision of Professor Ludwig Schlesinger. From 1908 to 1914 he studied at Göttingen, Giessen, Berlin, Switzerland and Paris, in the years 1922–1923 in Prague, Göttingen and Giessen. His doctoral dissertation in the field of differential equations was defended in 1912 in Giessen. Career In years 1906–1922, after successful completion of the university, he worked in years with fewer interruptions while on study abroad at school in Kezmarok.
