Juqueri State Park
The Juqueri State Park () is a state park in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It protects one of the last remnants of cerrado in the São Paulo metropolitan region, as well as areas of Atlantic Forest. In August 2021 a fire burnt half of the Land of the park. Location The Juqueri State Park is in the municipality of Franco da Rocha, from Praça da Sé in the center of São Paulo. It has an area of . The highest point has an altitude of . The park is named after a common plant found on the banks of the rivers of the region, called yu-kery by the indigenous people, who extracted salt from it to season their food. The plant is also known as "Sleeping Mary". When touched, it closes its leaves for a while. State Park (Brazil)
A state park () in Brazil is a legally defined type of protected area operated by one of the states. Their goal is to preserve important or beautiful natural ecosystems. Public access is allowed subject to regulations defined by the responsible agency. Definition State parks fall under the same regulations as national parks, defined by law 9.985 of July 2000. The park's basic objective is preservation of natural ecosystems of great ecological relevance and scenic beauty. This enables the conduct of scientific research and the development of educational activities and environmental interpretation, recreation in contact with nature and eco tourism. Cerrado
The Cerrado () is a vast ecoregion of Tropics, tropical savanna in central Brazil, being present in the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Tocantins, Maranhão, Piauí, Bahia, Minas Gerais, São Paulo (state), São Paulo, Paraná (state), Paraná and the Federal District (Brazil), Federal District. Franco Da Rocha
Franco da Rocha is a municipality in the state of São Paulo. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. The population is 156,492 (2020 est.) in an area of 132.78 km2. The suburban city is served by CPTM Line 7 (Ruby). The municipality contains the Juqueri State Park, created in 1993. History The municipality was created by state law in 1944. In February 2016, the municipality signed a Friendship Declaration with Stepanakert, the capital of the partially independent Republic of Artsakh. Praça da Sé ( English: '' See Square'') is a public space in São Paulo, Brazil. Considered as the city's central point, it is the point from where the distance of all roads passing through São Paulo are counted. The square was the location of many historical events in São Paulo's history, most notably during the Diretas Já movement. The name originates from the episcopal see of the city, the São Paulo Cathedral.
