Junín, Peru
Junín is a city in Central Peru, capital of the Junín Province in the Department of Junín. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Junín, at an elevation of 4,107 m (13,474 ft). It was founded as Town of Kings in 1539 and elevated to city level by the Law No. 9834, on October 27, 1943, during the presidency of Manuel Prado Ugarteche. The provinces of Peru () are the second-level administrative subdivisions of the country. They are divided into districts (). There are 196 provinces in Peru, grouped into 25 regions, except for Lima Province which does not belong to any region. This makes an average of seven provinces per region. The region with the fewest provinces is Callao (one) and the region with the most is Ancash (twenty). While provinces in the sparsely populated Amazon rainforest of eastern Peru tend to be larger, there is a large concentration of them in the north-central area of the country. Manuel Prado Ugarteche
Manuel Carlos Prado y Ugarteche (21 April 1889 – 15 August 1967) was a Peruvian politician and banker who served twice as president of Peru. Son of former President Mariano Ignacio Prado, he was born in Lima and served as the nation's 43rd (1939–1945) and 46th (1956–1962) president. His brother, Leoncio Prado Gutiérrez, was a military hero who died in 1883, six years before Manuel Prado was born. Prado was born in April 1889 as the son of Mariano Ignacio Prado. He went to college and became a banker. In 1914, Prado, along with General Benavides, overthrew Guillermo Billinghurst and his government during the First World War, in which Peru remained neutral. Raúl Manuel Pacheco Mendoza (born 26 April 1979) is a Peruvian long-distance running, long-distance runner. He was born in Santa Fe de Jauja. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Athletics at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's marathon, men's marathon, finishing in 21st place.
