Junne
Junne is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the municipality of Ommen, and lies about 22 km northwest of Almelo. The Vecht river is navigable straight from Zwolle until the weir at Junne. On the banks of the Vecht are some small nature reserves, which have a unique ecosystem of river dunes and grasslands and are now managed by the National Forest Service. History Junne is an old ''buurschap'' or semi-autonomous hamlet ruled communally by neighbouring freemen farmers. Situated at a curve in the meandering Vecht river, Junne's alluvial soil was much more fertile and arable than the surrounding bogs and moors. However, during the Batavian Republic of the early 19th century the state apparatus became much more centralised and municipalities were introduced, causing the buurschap Junne gradually to lose much of its autonomy over the decades that followed. Ommen () is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality and a Hanseatic League, Hanseatic city in the eastern Netherlands. Staatsbosbeheer, founded in 1899, is a Dutch government organization for forestry and the management of nature reserves. Staatsbosbeheer currently oversees over 250,000 hectares of land in the Netherlands. Usually this land is open to the public for recreational purposes, but restrictions often apply. Examples are the compulsory use of a leash when bringing a dog, or daytime access only. The organization has been criticized for not taking close enough care of its lands, or for interfering with political decisions, but news reports are generally positive or simply report public service announcements from the organization. Batavian Republic
The Batavian Republic (; ) was the Succession of states, successor state to the Dutch Republic, Republic of the Seven United Netherlands. It was proclaimed on 19 January 1795 after the Batavian Revolution and ended on 5 June 1806, with the accession of Louis Bonaparte to the Kingdom of Holland, Dutch throne.
