Junk (song)
"Junk" is a song written by English musician Paul McCartney and released on his debut studio album '' McCartney'' (1970). He started writing the song in 1968 with the Beatles while the group were studying Transcendental Meditation in India. After the band's return from India, he recorded a demo of the song at Kinfauns, George Harrison's home, before sessions for ''The Beatles'' (also known as "the ''White Album''") took place. It was ultimately passed over for inclusion on ''The Beatles'' and ''Abbey Road'' in 1969. After John Lennon privately announced his departure from the band, McCartney recorded the song for inclusion on ''McCartney''. A slightly longer, instrumental version of the song, titled "Singalong Junk", also appears on the album. Sandra Ann Goodrich (born 26 February 1947), known by her stage name Sandie Shaw, is a retired English pop singer. One of the most successful British female singers of the 1960s, she had three UK number one singles with "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me" (1964), " Long Live Love" (1965) and " Puppet on a String" (1967). With the latter, she became the first British entry to win the Eurovision Song Contest. She returned to the UK Top 40, for the first time in 15 years, with her 1984 cover of the Smiths song " Hand in Glove". Shaw retired from the music industry in 2013. Mellotron
The Mellotron is an electro-mechanical musical instrument developed in Birmingham, England, in 1963. It is played by pressing its keys, each of which causes a length of magnetic tape to contact a Capstan (tape recorder), capstan, which pulls it across a playback head. As the key is released, the tape is retracted by a spring to its initial position. Different portions of the tape can be played for different sounds. The Mellotron evolved from the similar Chamberlin, but could be mass-produced more efficiently. The first models were designed for the home and contained a variety of sounds, including automatic accompaniments. Bandleader Eric Robinson (conductor), Eric Robinson and television personality David Nixon (magician), David Nixon helped promote the first instruments, and celebrities such as Princess Margaret were early adopters. Background The album was first teased in late March 2016 by cryptic video posts placed on McCartney's Facebook and Twitter pages. When the album was announced by McCartney on 31 March 2016, he downplayed the use of "career" in describing the collection, rather referring to it as representative of a "musical adventure". ''Unplugged (The Official Bootleg)'' is a live album of Acoustic music, unplugged performance by Paul McCartney, recorded and released in 1991. Overview Following the vastness of the Paul McCartney World Tour (1989–1990), captured on ''Tripping the Live Fantastic'', McCartney took the opportunity to strip back his songs and appear on the acoustic-only show ''MTV Unplugged'', which had only been on air for over a year at that point. Subsequently, McCartney was the first in a long line of artists to release an album of their performance on the show. Unlike other artists who appeared on the show with acoustic instruments plugged into amplifiers, McCartney's instruments were entirely unplugged.
