Junior Tafuna
Timote "Junior" Maile Tafuna (born February 27, 2001) is an American professional football defensive tackle for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Utah Utes. Early life and high school Tafuna attended Bingham High School in South Jordan, Utah. He was rated as a three-star recruit and committed to play college football for the Utah Utes. College career Tafuna did not appear in any games for the Utes in 2020. In week 11 of the 2021 season, he notched a career-high nine tackles in a win over Arizona. In 2021, Tafuna totaled 33 tackles with five and a half being for a loss, four and a half sacks, a fumble recovery, and a pass deflection. He was named the Pac-12 Conference defensive freshman of the year and was named second-team all-Pac-12. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that typically lines up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the Guard (American football), offensive guards; however, he may also line up opposite one of the offensive Tackle (gridiron football position), tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield.
