Jungfernstieg Und Binnenalster 1842
The Jungfernstieg () is an urban esplanade, promenade in Hamburg, Germany. It is the city's foremost boulevard. Location Jungfernstieg mostly lies within the quarter of Hamburg-Neustadt, Neustadt; however at its easternmost it stretches as far as Hamburg-Altstadt. In total the Jungfernstieg stretches some 600 m along the southern and south-western shores of the Binnenalster lake and continues further to Gänsemarkt. On the lakeside it is framed by Ballindamm (and the nearby Europa Passage shopping centre) to the east and Neuer Jungfernstieg to the west. Towards the built-up area Jungfernstieg intersects with a number of streets - in the Altstadt with Bergstraße, Plan and Reesendamm; the latter carries on along the shore of Kleine Alster (Little Alster) towards Rathausmarkt. At Reesendammbrücke, Jungfernstieg crosses the Alster into Neustadt. It goes past Neuer Wall and Große Bleichen, two of Hamburg's leading Shopping mall, shopping precincts. Alsterhaus
The Alsterhaus is a five-story department store at Jungfernstieg 16–20 in Hamburg that opened in 1912. From 1994 to 2014 it was a branch of the department store group Karstadt (as part of ''Karstadt Premium GmbH''), after which it was made a part of KaDeWe Group GmbH together with Oberpollinger in Munich and the KaDeWe in Berlin. The department store has a sales area of around and specializes in items such as perfume, accessories, clothing and delicatessen. On the fourth floor there is a Le-Buffet restaurant with a view of the Binnenalster. It is open Monday to Saturday from 10 A.M. to 8 P.M. The Alsterhaus also has its own parking garage, which can be reached via Poststraße and Bei der Stadtwassermühle street. History The Gera merchant Oscar Tietz opened the first branch of his department store Hertie, Hermann Tietz (Hertie) in Hamburg on March 1, 1897, on Großer Burstah with a wide range of products on textiles, food, furniture, carpets and books.
